Visually, I'm bother that the chief looks so vastly different after coming out of the sleep. I think the halo 3 look was Iconic, this isn't as memorable to me. Everything else is looking pretty sweet. I enjoy the more dark look to the elites. To be honest, I think they were best portrayed in Halo Wars. I don't care much for the cartoony look that Halo 3 has for them. Another thing is that I hope we see more Elite Minors. Reach went through all of this trouble making different ranked Elites, and we rarely ever saw the minors... which is lame since Halo was built around them. I never looked at the higher ranks as more terrifying because that's all I ever saw. I feel like brutes took a step backwards in Reach as well, so I hope that is fixed if they're in it. Not entirely stoked for these gameplay changes I'm hearing, but I'll give it a shot before crying over it. If not, I can still make my plain-jane Halo 2 style customs.
I don't see why people dislike the new elites. They look darker and actually a threat. The scraps on the armour just make things seem more gritty and believable. Speaking common sense wise, just because the covenant lost the war (simply speaking), it doesn't exactly follow through that every soldier they have immediatly gets gritty armour that is all worn down. Is there some kind of fiction for the bilions of covenant to get new armour every three years or so? Mind you, with the kind of militia budget that allows them to make warships it is a possibility. perhaps then it goes on to say that the covenant has receded. That isn't true because I remember somewhere frankie saying quite the opposite. I see the covenant becoming a third wheel in halo 4. Sort of like you are escaping from the PoA in The Maw. Covanent and flood fighting, whilst you are in the background letting them do their thing.
I really want to hear some details on exactly how far customisation will be possible. Stuff like tailoring this instant respawn mechanic (turning it off), and being able to replicate a standard power weapon spawn system with these drop zones, hopefully even removing the HUD marker as well. I'm never very reassured by the whole "you'll be able to play how you want" spiel as it's quite non committal. I hope that they'll do customisation right and give us the chance to replicate the classic Halo mechanics. I'm sure their hearts are in the right place with this, I just hope we don't end up with a Reach situation where we're missing toggles that we really want like Bloom. It's a careful balance between catering to full customisation and having faith in your new mechanics, and I think Bungie were a little too confident that things like bloom were what we really wanted even if we didn't know it. The TU approach taken by 343 gives me hope that they take the customisation thing seriously and want to do right by classic fans, but I'll still be holding my breath until we get some solid, quantifiable promises for customisation.
Anyone excited for Armor customization? You know, helmets, chest plates, ect. I hope they bring back the original looks of helmets. Some of them just looked retarded IMO in Reach. EOD, Recon, Mark IV, ect.
I feel like the elites are just missing armor/bulk on their arms; they look like little chicken arms, which makes them look weak, IMO.
I'll be excited for armor customization if they provide pieces I'm excited about. The armor I've seen so far is very... not memorable and kinda ugly.
As Frankie said: "Instant respawn will only work in team slayer." I actually like the new look. I was never a fan of the visor being so bulky. They also went more into detail on the armour pieces (ex. knee guards) and I like that.
i like the look of that grunt and the elites. especially the grunt. chief looks decent, not great not terrible
Well actually he said it won't be there in objective, so it'll be in all Slayer (ie. FFA as well). But still, what if I want it off in Slayer?
i fail to see how press to spawn instead of a four second respawn could negatively effect a non-objective game
I don't believe it'd be an issue for team slayer, but for free for all it'd be bad. The problem with ffa is that all you have to do is hit 25 first, there isn't a punishment for having a bad k/d. So instant respawn will have people attempting more beat downs because they won't have to fear a 5 second penalty box
Ink of it this way you kill a guy and he makes you weak your getting away in the time he would normally be spawning when bam there he is with full shields and your still weak. I don't see it happening very often but enough to get slightly annoying.either way I'm not too worried
It will turn small maps into a big cluster****. Spawn timers slow down the game and make each life more important. Instant spawns will allow people to rush in and die over and over constantly.
again, as long as there are decent spawns i doubt you'll be able to see the enemy who just killed you within a second or 2 of spawning in team slayer. i do agree it might be a bit more of a problem on a small ffa map, but we aren't even positive itll be press to spawn in ffa.
