    call it Toph-vision? lol

seriously, though, i can see this being problematic, depending on the circumstances and specificity of the object you can and cant see through. But, as is with all of this new information, I just gotta be patient until I 'SEE' real Halo 4 gameplay.

    FFFFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUU

Why don't people like it? I always felt like a bad ass when I was duel-wielding. It was tons of fun.

Dual-wielding needlers against Chuck would cause him to quit the game forever.

X-ray vision could be cool/interesting if they design the maps with it in mind. But considering the issues of jet pack in Reach, I'm not exactly optimistic. The biggest problem with the constant expansion of the Halo sandbox is making sure all these new toys aren't overly exploitable in any context, and the size of the dev team and amount of time devoted to testing simply isn't sufficient to discover all the inherent problems. In particular they're going to have to be even more sure than before that the maps have no rooms friendly to camping - can you imagine yellow lift room on Sword Base if you could not only listen for the lift and watch your motion tracker, but ALSO see through the wall into the adjacent hallway? There's serious abuse potential there.

But overall I'm less concerned about this kind of thing (all Halos have had exploits of varying degrees of efficacy), and more about the fundamental move away from Halo being a pick-up shooter. I also think they may kick themselves when and if they realize that perks and loadouts are not the primary reason CoD is siphoning off their players. My fear there is that no amount of imitating CoD features will win those people back, because those people are simply more interested in being present day soldiers on Earth than futuristic soldiers in space.

that isnt really r/p/s. rock paper scissors is when everything has at least one, usually different, counter. the same thing countering itself isnt rock/paper/scissors, thats like saying team swat is like a game of r/p/s because everyone can kill with one headshot, but also gets killed in one headshot....

and no dual wielding saddens me. dual small man guns was my favorite

Here is a new interview (done by frankie) about comparing Halo 4 to 3. Nothing very revealing as always, just thought I'd share.

I can't speak for anyone else, but personally I'd be MUCH more likely to use it to infiltrate enemy territory and spot campers, than to camp. Of course I thought the same about the camo AA, until I found they had actively encouraged camping with it by making it so that it only worked when barely or not moving. Groan. Let's hope "forerunner vision" doesn't have a similar limitation - and let's also hope that if camo AA is making a return, that they've fixed it. (I'm no fan of camo in any form other than power-up, but if it must be an AA, it shouldn't have a movement limitation, and it should probably have a longer charge cycle and shorter active duration.)

I'm hoping it'll be limited range to achieve that. If so then it should just be an enhanced radar which negates crouching but at the trade of only being an AA. I wonder if you'll be able to shoot when using it, or have to use it carefully a la Blacklight: Tango Down.

Tbh I don't see that as a massively useful AA since it's not hard to precisely predict player locations around walls etc. using radar, and if you want to give up other, more dominant AAs just to negate crouchers then meh. Not excited to see it added by any means but hopefully it'll be less annoying than it sounds initially.

Is weapon customisation confirmed? I know there are custom loadouts, but I don't want to see nonsense like custom scopes and changing the nature of a BR etc. on top of that. Much as I'd rather keep an even spawn approach, if I can ensure that I'll always have a BR or DMR regardless of gametype then I think I'll live. However, if there's a Needler option then I need to learn how to tie a noose.

I'm more worried about his response in an earlier NeoGAF thread, when he someone said they didn't want people being able to spawn in with Shotguns and Snipers.

And his response was "you wont be able to spawn in with snipers, only in sniper-only games"...

Kinda sounds like you'll be able to spawn with a shotty. ***** better be seriously nerfed if that's the case.

That's another fear of mine - that they would nerf power weapons to make them acceptable as loadout options. This whole enterprise makes me queasy... I wish more concrete information would start coming out.

If you can spawn with shotties then Frankie had better start sleeping with one.

Yea if you start changing weapons that have been staples throughout the halo series to support some copycat class system(we don't know to what extent it's actually going to be a class system, but still) you aren't going to have anybody trying to defend you

    Sigging this...

Yeah, that's the problem with releasing such wonky info, and none of it being really concrete and easily misinterpreted, not to mention his NeoGAF posts are really not helping.

    This whole thread:

On topic, I guess I could live with some of these changes, as long as you can't customize weapons to change gameplay. Halo has always been about starting on even footing, and it should stay that way. Otherwise it just feels like every other "modern" shooter.

Frankie did confirm that you can't spawn with snipers in every game just in the snipers playlist. You'd have to assume that it carries on to all power weapons.

And i'm not overly sure why people think that X ray vision will be overpowered. I do think 343 know what they are doing when it comes to balance. They definatly balanced up Reach, that is fair to say. I imagine it as something a bit like the Visor mode from ODST, with a red outline around enemies.

The random weapon drops will be shown on the HUD though. That I don't like. It just causes the game to stop and entire teams to dash for weapons.

My theory on choice of starting weapons: you have very little choice. Halo has always been a bit divided about the usage of DMR/BR starts as opposed to AR. Also there was both a human and covenant carbine announced. I think you will be able to choose between only four weapons (BR, AR, Carbine, Magnum), or possibly just the first three and have a default magnum as secondary all the time. I think if these weapons were made balanced then this could work out really well and give the player some extra choice- if that's how it goes, I kind of like it.

    Ta Daaaa.

I only mentioned the point about the shotgun because both weapons were specifically mentioned, yet frankie only said you wouldn't be able to start with the sniper.
Which does sound as if the shotty is a start.

To be honest, I won't know how to react until I see something solid.

I had the same thought. If given a choice though, would anyone pick AR over a BR/DMR? The answer would most likely be a resounding NO! Unless of course they actually make the AR useful in cqc style maps vs using a BR/DMR all the time.
