I played everything back in H2 and H3... There's a reason why I don't step outside of Customs unless to play ZB Slayer or MLG these days... And that reason is Halo got raped by corporate greed when they added bullshit mechanics like sprint and armor lock. Lets face it, we're never gonna have another Halo that stands up like H2 or H:CE did. Our beautiful franchise has been hijacked by casual retards and is being driven into the dirt.
Halo 2 felt like such solid competition. When i got my ass kicked in that game, it felt like i deserved it. Same with Halo 3. they throw in all this **** to help the idiots, and thats when blatant bullshit deaths happen. Most of these changes feel like they'll just lead to BS. The instant respawn in particular is realllly bugging me. When i kill a guy on the other team, he needs to be dead for at least a few seconds... you know... and the joining in game is the worst ****ing solution to people quitting out ive ever heard, just saying.
IGN just released this article, more to be seen in the May issue of Gameinformer. Spartan Ops and Infinity Change Halo 4 Multiplayer - Xbox 360 News at IGN
BWAAAAAMP. BWAAAAAMP. But seriously, tit's chilling would be cool, at least until that podcast comes out.
Does anyone know where these sparkcasts can be found? Or if I can subscribe to them? I'm assuming at waypoints website, but I've never seen them there..
I'm not gonna get too worried about this until we get some more definitive info. After all, we are forging community and focused on customs rather than MM. And we SHOULD be able to customize the gametypes in a way that we will want anyways. You know, if they include and improve forge...
Im hoping H4 is going to be better than it sounds. If they can make the AA more balanced they shouldnt be an issue, and the random weapon drops (if they have any common sense) should be in a specific area rather than around the whole map. As for this resembling CoD, it doesnt. Sure, there are now loadouts, but I can assume that it will be a choice between the carbines, BRs and ARs only really, some AA and grenade options too probobly. Really I think this is still Halo, just a Halo we are unfamiliar with and thus weary of. Im eager to see how these changes work and how they used the AA. I dont enjoy the idea of some things here, but I am at least willing to give it a shot.
After reading the article I'm pretty sure the underlying reason is to extend the life of the game. Because there's that whole spartan ops thing they've implemented too. I don't know, it really does look like the classic halo formula's shifted dramatically to attract a newer generation of gamers who've been more accustomed to games like CoD and BF where you can make changes to "play the game your way"; perhaps even a little too much. Regardless, as long as there's in game options to remedy this and make the game play more like classical halo I don't see what the big deal is. Doesn't make sense to complain about having more options IMO. Also pretty disappoint we won't be able to play as elites in MP D: they look a lot more GoW esque now, even grew an extra finger from the looks of it.
Okay, to clear some things up: Instant respawn is ONLY on Team Slayer. Jetpack, Hologram, and Active Camo are confirmed. Forerunner vision was wanted by many in the "Make Your Own AA" thread so... And yes we are playing a game about Spartans playing a game.
Frankie came out and said this ''the magazine scans were always going to come out the day after the cover debuted, that almost always happens. We can't talk about the story in detail, because it is GI's exclusive. I will say that some of the things that "invested, emotional" players are "raising eyebrows slightly at" are being very misinterpreted ("random" weapon spawns for example) but we will be able to clarify some of those things in due time. Some of the other features, abilities, are also being discussed with no context (not your guys' fault, obviously) and frankly, a video of TS would probably allay many of the especially hysterical reactions, but we're not there yet. We haven't seen a single reaction we didn't expect (apart from the Dax love story) and we will clarify a lot of this stuff 100% in the coming weeks and months. SOME of the things in here won't be properly understood outside of a holistic experience (modes, progress, fictional setting, etc) but I am going to say one thing and leave it at that: It feels like Halo, it does NOT feel or act like the other game(s) it's being compared to. Again, without playing it, you can't be blamed for jumping to certain conclusions." Well hopefully the storm can be calmed.
The only thing that's really worrying me anymore is the random weapon spaw.n.. but Frankie specified that as being misinterpreted
I'm more worried about the fact that people can spawn with AAs and a weapon of their choice (limited to certain weapons). Reach screwed this up and Halo4 is following suit. Just place the god damn AAs on the map. Halo has always been about beginning on an even playingfield and since Reach this has gone out of the window. Something I certainly won't tolerate two games in a row.
Does anyone just talk about details without being personally slighted anymore? I've seen almost no actual ****ing discussion regarding the leaked details other then the spectrum of "it worries me" to people saying why it will "ruin Halo". How about some discussion regarding possible scenarios for a "Spartan Ops" or how "spartan points" would be implemented. I swear, there is no such thing as discussion anymore that doesn't degenerate into overly pessimistic statements.
