Since the old one was more anticipatory and speculative, I figured I'd make a new one for thoughts on the game. How was the gameplay? How much did you hate the ending? What the hell, multiplayer?

I suppose a general thread for ME3 is ok...I think everyone got their frustrations out already in the other thread though :p

Eh, I've heard enough complaints about the endings honestly. Asking about it was more sarcasm. And if I have to read one more post on Indoctrination theory I might have to slap a *****.

That being said, I was reading up on the original plot, which involved Dark Energy that was foreshadowed in ME2. Anyone have thoughts on it?

Where did you find that bit of reading, Nemi?

Also, I love the multiplayer. I could also have done withought in exchange for hours more single player, but the MM really makes the game feel more universal rather than just you and the reapers.

I would like some DLC. Multiplayer is amazing, but 6 maps gets boring after a while. Other than that, this game has been nothing short of awesom.

I thought Hungover Ashley was better, but to each his own.

Anyway, overall, it's a fantastic game. Playing through on Insanity now (not really that difficult after importing a ME3 save that used a ME2 import. Lvl 60 almost straight outta the gate). I think it's actually more fun on Insanity because it's more strategic now that I am forced to take cover. On Normal I just ran around like I do in Bronze MP.

I would have to say I preferred the campaign in ME2, but with MP, ME3 is easily the best in the series, imo. Being able to play as different races along with the different classes really makes for an exciting and diverse experience. The equipment packs really add another level to it' as well. Makes me feel like an 8yo again, buying Pokemon cards and hoping for a holographic Charizard. I do agree that more maps would be better. I did like how they incorporated them into the campaign and gave reason as to why we are continually assaulting the enemies in those areas.

But that was all contained to that room and if you then talked to Vega he would mention it.

I overheard Tali drunk calling various squad mates when I went to talk to them.

I liked how they portrayed the Reapers in the actual story. They kept saying that their purpose was beyond our comprehension, and the Dark Energy plot was... pretty understandable. The idea that each cycle needs to be saved from itself, essentially, is a little more in line with what Sovereign and Harbinger alluded to.

I disagree. While the original intent of the reapers might have been that, it obviously wasn't true. During the Prothean era the Prothean's battled a synthetic enemy and were winning so obviously Synthetic life wasn't destroying organic life, and in the current "cycle" Shepard got the Geth to co-exist peacefully (not that the Geth had the problem to be begin with) with the Quarians. So their intent kind of falls flat and really doesn't make all that much sense. Why not just take their plan 1 step farther. Why have organic life at all if it will keep trying to destroy itself? If the reapers harvest organics to save the DNA then why do they need any organic life in the universe at all?

All I'm saying is that if that is what they're going to go with as far as an explanation for the reapers, I would have preferred their original intent remain a mystery because the one given was lame and easily disproved within canon.

Don't recall, I think I migh have been a magazine article. Google "ME3 Dark Energy Ending".

What I like about it was that it's a threat in the scale of billions of years rather than in one civilization's own cycle. It would be a threat to organic life, but not to any individual race...somewhat like the issue with global warming right now. Also, the ending would have forced you to either try to kill the Reapers and have humanity figure out a solution to the problem, or allow the Reapers to process humanity into a Reaper that might be able to solve the problem (due to humanity's genetic diversity or something.

It's still heavily flawed though, so that's probaby why it was scrapped.

Starting my insanity playthrough, though I may never complete it. I can't imagine how hard the final fight is by the missiles. 2 or 3 banshees, several brutes, and a ****-ton of marauders and cannibals, all while a reaper is wiping the field with a death ray.

Yeah, I'm not looking forward to that.

I dunno...I remember Vanguard on Insanity in ME2 was impossible to play without dying at least 10 times per mission. In ME3 because of the Charge/Nova spam combo, I can speed through pretty quickly.

So I've been interwebbing lately regarding the ending and people's opinions on it and found some interesting. There is now a growing segment of gamers who believe in the ending was part of an hallucination Sheperd was having because he was being indoctrinated.

Any thougths on that? I personally think it is bull and that bioware thought they were being all witty and artsy with their ending but ended up blowing it. I mean they probably had DLC planned to clear up the ending before the game released.

Charge/Nova combo is OP, but I can't imagine using just that tactic for the next... 30 hours or so. It's also not feasible against any enemies with one hit kill animations.

It's boring as hell, but definitely doable. Enemies with Shields/Barrier/Armor, I use EDI/Liara to take care of, then when their defenses are out I charge/nova. It helps to have an insanely fast power recharge time...

There is a Missle Launcher in the store on the left in the final area. I advise saving it for the arrival of the last Banshees and Marauders, just after all the Brutes attack.
