Obelisk by Equin0x "A forerunner tower stands tall in the face of destruction" 12-16 players Obelisk is a BTB map placed in the canyon and designed so that infantrymen have places to play without being dominated by vehicles, as in Hemorrhage. Each base is set at the same height coordinate with a raised area in the middle, preventing them from seeing each other, there is also a large amount of carefully placed natural cover to prevent sniper domination. The middle structure of Obelisk is based off of CE forerunner architecture, as is the side structure. The middle structure pierces the sky, making for nice eye-candy and preventing the falcons from being able to see the whole map at once. The design of the middle structure's interior makes a nice infantry playspace but veicles can still enter at their own peril. Obelisk has been set up for and tested witha number of gametypes, including Assault, Flag, Hill, Team Slayer, Stockpile, Oddball, Rally, and Rocket Race. Everyone always had fun playing Obelisk, especially on Rocket Race, so I look forward to hearing your feedback. Thanks to Rorak for helping design the top of the middle structure, Tutui and Psychoduck for getting tests together, and everyone else who has played on, downloaded, or given feedback on Obelisk.
Ah, I remember this. Great gameplay, but the excesive use of 4x4 blocks makes the central tower a bit unatractive. I'd try and add a bit of detail, and more variety to the central 'sail' piece.
Well, well, well, if it isn't Ascentants big brother Obelisk. I remember seeing this thing in the making early last fall. Never did get a real game on here but good map nonetheless. And splatterman, I'm sure equinox had major problems battling framerate. With a map spanning such a large area you dont have much breathing room when it comes to piece usage.
Exactly. I would have used Brace, Larges, but the little hook on one end kept me from doing that. The map would have looked a lot better had I not been getting a lot of feedback about framerate. I had to drop a ton of luxuries to prevent framerate. I can proudly say though that now you can fly the falcon without a lot of framerate.
This is a pretty good map that you made Equin0x. I liked the forerunner feeling of the map, the way was made and it's in a very good location too. As I looked thorough the other's comments about the map. I heard that you have a bit of a frame rate issue on your map. I hope it's not a 'mayor' frame rate my friend. I'm not trying to be mean or anything but I think the Red and Blue bases look a bit basic. I know there's 4x4 Blocks, Braces-larges, Bridge-mediums, covers and 2x2 ramps. I think you reduce the bits and pieces of your bases and think of a better looking bases. As I said earlier I'm not trying to be mean or anything about that. I'm pretty happy what you made and you've done a excellent job of making this BTB map! - EpICx ReMiX XD
I had to work with what I had, matey. I had a few blocks, a few inclines, and a few decoratives, so I made lemonade. :/
Took you long enough man! I remember testing this alongside Embarcadero and S. For a canyon map, Obelisk is pretty well done. The bases are well designed, and the large structure in the middle helps alleviate the problem of movement only occurring along the sides of the canyon while also giving a good amount of aerial cover. Obelisk is as fun to drive as it is to ground-pound, and overall you did a good job here Equinox. Now come play big team with us again!
Hey I really would like to have rocket race game type but I can't connect my gt with my bungie.net account so could you just tell me what to put in the tags section for the intake file browser?
If you would like to DL this waterfall then go into the filebrowser when playing reach, then go to custom search, then go to fileshare search and type in Th3 Equin0x. OT: this map looks great but a little empty in some areas, I love the middle structure but I don't like the way you used 4x4s because it makes the map look a little sloppy. I notice that you used a brace large for a ramp in the red and blue base yet you put 2 ramp 2x2s in the brace, why is that? It looks like it just wastes money and will increase the chance of framerate. Overall I am really impressed with the outcome of this map and I can't wait to see more from you. Also right now I am in the progress of finishing up a forerunner based BTB map and I need some good testers that will give me some real constructive criticism. If you would like to help test and or suggest things I can do to the map to improve it message me on live.
Oh look, Nox Equi posted a map that wasn't accidentally on a modded canvas (Noxiw=Nox, so Equinox has to go by Equi for short). Anyways, this is one of the better canyon BTBs out there. It still has a lot of the same problems that other canyon maps have, but to a lesser degree. I know the central structure took some skillful free-handing as well, so props for that. Overall, this map was generally fun to play, even if every falcon I ever got in got insta-lasered.
Dat thumbnail.... Played Rocket Race on here and it was a blast, still havent played any slayer or objective matches yet, but I am sure they would work fine. Those forerunner structures look gorgeous btw.
Finally, a canyon map that doesn't look like hemorrhage. The forerunner stucts. look great .and really deviate from the reg. great job/
