**I AM STILL LEARNING, I am not good since I just stated. this is more training then professional music, but a few of my friends liked it and decided to subscribe. I kinda thought others might like it too.** Hey guys! I know none of you guys will know me; None the less I have come here to share my music with you! I am just getting started on making my music and would love some feedback. I make all this on my my own, so it is not mixes, it's songs! =] If you guys would not mind subscribing to my youtube, it makes me feel fantastic to see that number go up. SPI - Dark Matter Doesn't Matter SPI - Sippen on Sound Edit: Dubstep is technically music and music is art. Therefore this piece is allowed here. Do not flame or any of the sort - Bloo
This aint dubstep. I produce electronic music as well and I can tell you right now this isn't dubstep. Critiquing it with dubstep out of mind, this is horrible. Sorry, but it is. There is no song structure, its way too long, no beat, the synths don't flow with each other. Back to the drawing board mate.
Here we have it, folks, the genesis of avant garde dubstep! ;P Listened to it all the way through and I must say, it's very abstract. The one big thing that stood out for me was there didn't feel like there was any cohesion to the sounds. It basically felt like they were just thrown in and messed with for the sake of throwing them in. Something that would have made it all fit a bit better would probably have been some percussion so it had a bit of rhythm. Either a kick, a kick + snare, or kick + hihat, and you'll probably have a bit better flow to it, and have something the listener can bop their head to. Usually dub is synonymous with half-step drum lines, so try working with that. Some could argue that this isn't dubstep, but their arguments would probably be based on the fact that there's no drops or wubs, but a true dub enthusiast knows that it's not always about those, and dubstep doesn't always = Skrillex. Even though this doesn't have either of those, it still barely borders on dub. It has a groove in there, but just barely. In my opinion, the following is a perfect example of great dub without resorting to wubs and drops. Plastician - Japan (Official Youtube) - YouTube Interesting enough to keep you listening, and it's groovy as ****. Just keep working on your execution and you'll get better at it. Also, may I ask, what version of Fruity Loops are you using, and is it full or demo version?
Thx bloo =] yeah I noticed that as well, the other one there, Sippen on Sound, has a more rhythmic drum to it and the one I am working on now has much more of a drum structure as well. I think I was just kinda exited with the new software are really wanted to show my friends =P I am still messing with the plug ins, and I haven't had any music training in my life so I'm still trying to get the sounds to match well. In other words, yeah I am just making cool sounds and trying to make em fit. I have the FL 10.0.9 It is the full version, but I am on ubuntu so... some stuff doesn't and sometimes it just wont play sound =P Also, I am glad you, enjoyed it =] I can only get better right? Well, will see about that =p. I kinda thought you guys would pick up on the bit and think, "oh he's still learning". I guess I was wrong seeing as you seem to think I am just a moron. I AM STILL LEARNING, I am not good since I just stated. this is more training then professional music, but a few of my friends liked it and decided to subscribe. I kinda thought others might like it too. Btw, dubstep is mostly the BPM of the song soz yeah, this counts even if it doesn't sound good=]
I didn't insult you any way, I gave you criticism. I may have been a bit harsh but sometimes its needed to help people along. Im still learning as well, although I do have a backing of learning drums and piano for a few years. My songs aren't great yet, in fact if you wanna hear what I've produced message me and Ill link you. And to clarify, dubstep is characterised by is its large amount of bass, generally syncopated drum patterns, chopped vocals and high range synths.
yeah sorry didn't mean for that to come out sounding so much like an attack. I had just gotten off a forum where we all flame each other =3 I would love to use and tips you might have to help me make my stuff more smooth and fit better =] and sure I'll listen to your stuff =] <3
I would argue that. If it's made by him, it's clearly his "art". It's Graphics and art. If I'm not mistaken, people have also posted poems, short stories, and other written works on occasion.
But not music, or videos. It's debatable where music goes. Because if it's a video of someone playing music, it's a video and should be in the videos forum. As it's a track, uploaded to a video site... it displays as a video. If it was a track in a trackplayer (like soundcloud) I suppose it could be debated where it should sit. At the moment, there are no definitive forums for user created music. I'll look into a GnA Sub-forum.
This reminds me of a side-scroller level song, in that regards it's damn awesome, almost a twisted drugged out kinda level. Gives off a creepy feel and wouldn't distract the player from the visuals. I like it in that regard as it can loop, end, and go heavier for a "boss" fight. Gave me a flash back to games like Contra and **** lol.
About all this moving threads and such, I didn't intend on putting up the vid just links. Bloo Jay went in and did the youtube BBcode link whatever stuff. Ha Ha thx, most people say that, maybe I should make flash game music, any takers?
