THE CHASM Played with Safe Havens gametype or Alpha Zombie gametype. 12-16 players Welcome to my second installation of Infection. This time around, I have made a map based very heavily around the level "Chasm Ten" from Halo 3: ODST. This was always my favorite Firefight map, both visually and gameplay-wise. The multiple levels provide such different gameplay experiences for either side. The low level is full of close range heart attacks while the upper tier is mostly just for the sharpshooters who want to pick everything off from a distance. Either way you play, I hope you enjoy it. THE CHASM Top center, leading into the back halls. Upper walkways looking into the chasm below. High side overlooking low side. Top platforms. Survivor spawn / grenade launcher spawn. Ground level looking upward towards the walkways. High side, center. Low side, center, rocket spawn. High side, left. Teleporter to upper walkways, left. Upper halls, sniper / healthpack spawn. Upper hall, Sniper spawn. Assault Rifle crate. Also comes in DMR or Shotgun. Located inside Survivor spawn. ACTION SHOTS Thanks for checking it out, and I hope you enjoy it. Maybe you'll see it in future TGIF parties as well! [/LEFT]
This looks really cool and its an interesting twist on Infection. The aesthetics are great and I really like the new designs you have for holding weapons etc... Very clean overall and ,though I'm not certain how faithful it is to the original play space (I didnt play ODST), I'm sure there was a lot of work put into recreating it. With your permission I would love to try the map out in our testing lobbies and potentially make a feature video out of it for THFE. Great work
Have at it for the video. Make sure to post it in this thread so myself and others can check it out, please. As for accuracy, It's not entirely accurate. The map is quite smaller, and I simplified the indoor layout immensely. Building the real map just could not be done properly with the tools, budget and framerate given. If I could've built it 100%, I'd have been allllllll over that. That being said, it is still very close feel-wise, and ought to make anyone who played it at least a bit nostalgic. It plays well to me, so that is what is most important.
I was just about to test this for the TG, you dolt! Oh well, I guess I'll just play this with Oakley (Rival) instead. Good work on here, good sir, it looks very nice. I'll get back to you with more thoughts later.
We just played a game on the map and everyone loved the atmosphere. There were alot of people who recognized the setting so thats a good thing. The gameplay however had issues. The main concern was that humans had too much health. We were very disorganized at first and yet humans still held out for a very long time. The near invulnerability in the hills did make the humans want to move around but it just wasnt very enjoyable for the zombies. By the end of the game the humans were used to the map and by getting set up in the hallways upstairs they were basically unbreakable. If you are going for that firefight feel I think the gametype needs to be revamped because it didnt feel like I was really playing that type of game. There is a gametype out there which allows all zombies to be elites which may help you with that. Additionally it may be nice to give the zombies a central spawn room where they can pick up weapons (temporarily using custom powerups) and then decide where on the map they want to spawn. Great job so far with the map but I would recommend looking into the gameplay
All right, I figured that it wasn't going to go well with the community. I still like the map, and it did work decent with stand Infection and Safe Haven, so now I'll just let people download the map and say it's for Infection.
Wow. Surprised this hadn't gotten more attention. I don't play much infection but the look of the map caught my eye. It's very neatly laid out. I like the function of the river separating the two sides, with the bridges leading back and forth. I really enjoy the attention to detail, too. Especially the "weapon spawn holders"(couldn't think of a better phrase for them), very polished. I probably won't be playing on this map, because I rarely play infection, and I have a hard time getting a party of more than 10 together, but I definitely appreciate what you've done with this one. Quality pictures in the post, too.
This map looks enormous, I bet theres frl in split screen, hopefully none with one person, it shows all the little details put into this map.
As far as I can tell, there is absolutely zero frame-rate lag in single person. No one reported any, and I and my friends experienced none anywhere in the map. The map is enormous and does use a great deal of pieces, but I have done so in a thoughtful manner. As far as split-screen, I can't guarantee anything, but nothing was mention on that end either.
Why does this map have little attention? This is absolutely one of the best remakes of any ODST maps! The aesthetics are truly amazing. I'm not sure how gameplay goes, but that's something I'll have to find out my self. +1 Download from me.
This really wouldn't work for any seriously competitive type of game in my opinion. I'd stick to infection.
