Hello fellow sports fans. That time of year is fast approaching when all the year’s story lines are coming to a close and coaches start kicking their teams into high gear in preparation for March Madness. That’s right, welcome back to this year’s discussion thread regarding all things NCAA Men’s Basketball. Will Kentucky stay the top dog of the AP polling or will they suffer another Indiana Hoosiers type upset? Can Duke, UNC, and Florida State all share the spotlight in the ACC or will underdogs such as Virginia or NC State grab the ACC limelight? Can the Big East compete this year or will it go the way of last year’s tourney and fade away in the first round? Surely Jim Boeheim’s ‘Cuse doesn’t want to see that happen. The Big 10 did pretty well last year maybe the Spartans or the Buckeyes can go farther this year. Or maybe a lesser known division 1 team rises to providence like the Drexel Dragons, Harvard Crimson, Weber State Wildcats, or the Murray State Racers. To bring in some people that might not have been watching the drama that is the Men’s College Basketball year I’d like to take the liberty to catch some of you up. The way college basketball teams are rated is by their Associated Press poll position; which factors in wins, losses, strength of schedule, and a myriad of other metrics that determine the skill of one team compared to another and in the end it all comes down to votes. Twenty-five teams make up the AP poll and just one loss can mean dropping several places or even completely off the chart depending on who that loss is to and what team is doing the losing. The current AP Top 25 is as follows. Now the top 25 is not indicative of who will be what seed for the March Madness tourney, it is just a basic indication of the skill level of each team and what conferences are more likely to send multiple teams to the NCAA tournament. Each team still needs to win their associated conferences tournament to assure a lock into the NCAA tournament and those conference tournaments are fast approaching so hurry up, grab some popcorn, the next two weeks are going to be exciting. When the NCAA Tournament seeding is complete and the brackets are officially open I will create another ESPN bracket group open to all Forgehub members. Even if you have little interest in college basketball I encourage all to take part as March Madness is a fun way to compete with friends and makes it all that much sweeter if your bracket does better than a die-hard sports fanatic’s bracket. Like last year, this thread is to discuss all things college basketball, so cheer for your team, do some friendly trash talking, but please keep it civil. For those interesting in being in a bracket group and possibly winning lots of money (if you have the most accurate bracket in the nation) then I have made the official group for forgehub. The limit is 2 brackets a person and you can fill out your bracket after the NCAA Tournament teams are finalized this Sunday night. Here is the group Password is: forgehub You have until March 15th to Sign up for the league. Here is the 2012 NCAA Tournament Bracket
ACC IS BEST BASKETBALL CONFERENCE LOL *Looks at projected 1-seeds... half of which are big twelve* *looks at projected elite-8 teams... half of which are big twelve* EEEHNOPE. Missouri is no longer ranked #3 after this week, either Kansas or Duke will be, depending entirely on the outcome of the Kansas-Missouri game this week (which is at KU lol, a team that never ****ing loses at home.) I doubt that they will fall any further than 7 or so, maybe, just MAYBE making back to top five before the bracket if/when duke loses next.
^Derp, random Kansas team with no individual talent at all beat a team of 5-star players... YOUR team of five star players! Who cares if it was months ago!? Apparently the coaches; they discounted your win entirely due to Sullinger being out, despite you still having an entire starting-line that outclassed all of our team cept Robinson. Speaking of Robinson; does he get credit for single-handedly pulling all of our wins or something? Because, if we don't lose another game from here out and win both the Big Twelve regular season AND the Big Twelve tourney, he insta-wins the PotY, regardless of what Kentucky does... despite the fact that he is constantly outclassed by Withey and Taylor, neither of whom are even candidates for the award. I don't understand o_o Since you are using the AP and not the Coaches poll, it should be updated by now, correct? To include monday's shenanigans? If you haven't guessed, I'm totally cheezed out about that! I was afraid my hawk's might not win the big12 regular season conference, and it would break our 11-season streak (the longest by any team in any div1 conference ever, as far as I know,) but a win over Mizzou here clinches, at the least, a share. And that is assuming Mizzou wins the rest of their games (they will lmao, against the three NIT teams in the big12) and we LOSE all of ours... against three equally-shitty teams.
It's updated every Monday I believe, at least the main table I give up, I can't get the table to look good.
lol, Mizzou is going to beat you by at least 15. There is no way anyone with half a brain would pick someone other then Anthony Davis for PotY. There is no other player in the nation that has as big of an impact on the game as Davis. Kid is a beast.
Haha, no they arent. They only beat us at home because of foul shenanigans; there were well over threetimes as many called on us. Some of it may be our fault, but nobody has only 4 fouls in the second half; especially when they are down all but the last minute of the clock. Your love for Davis? It doesnt matter; he isnt the hearthrob, cinderella story, victim-of-fate that Robinson is. Youre only way is if we lose more than two games the rest of the season, and you know it
Isaiah Canaan Stats, News, Videos, Highlights, Pictures, Bio - Murray State Racers - ESPN ^Isaiah Canaan, Murray State. Sometimes its the little guys that make a big difference.
Actually, that confuses me; Shad0w, did you mean he has the biggest impact on basketball as a whole, or just on each individual game?
Kansas plays first half without two best players, due to atrocious flops by mizzu. Kansas loses first half. Commentators are surprised that Kansas is losing without a PotY candidate and the best defensive forward in the conference.
Missouri Tigers vs. Kansas Jayhawks - Box Score - February 25, 2012 - ESPN T-Rob: 28 pts, 12 rebounds, including the layup AND ONE, followed by the utter REJECTION on the other side of the court to send us into OVERTIME. He SINGLE HANDEDLY CARRIED US BACK FROM A NINETEEN POINT DEFICIT IN THE SECOND HALF. THOMAS ROBIONSON FOR PLAYER OF THE YEEEEAAAARRRRR!!!!! Sorry, Shad0w, Davis has NOTHING on that kind of comeback. Your team would've been OUT, and you know it.
Win what? I hope you're just talking about the Big 10 because I would pay to have you in UK's bracket come tourney time.
You are crazy, after what you did to them I would never want to see them again if I was you. They would be out for blood and would most likely end up playing out of their mind. Add the fact that it would be on a neutral court and that's just a recipe for disaster.
