I know, it's just shockingly hard to remember at the time. I usually remember to save a copy when I complete the layout. But it's no big deal. The layout wasn't too satisfying for me.
Probably. They stickied this one without me even asking, I was lazily assuming they'd do the same for the submission one.
Submission thread is now stickied and one week has elapsed already! Hope you guys are polishing up your work... we're just 21 days from the end of the submission period. Seems like a lot but it will fly by.
I am confused with this phrase...if its limited to seven how can there be 100 blocks...can someone explain this in terms i might comprehend...thanks in advance and i think this idea is awesome (if i can figure out the conditions...lol)
He is basicly saying thet you can only use one type of block, for example. As an example you can use as many 1x4 blocks as you want, but you can only use that block, no other items in the blocks category. At any time you can switch to using a different block, but then you can ONLY use that block. Do you follow?
So I can use 100 1x4s and then change the material but only choose it from seven different categories and have the budget under 7000 if that's what he means I get it.
You can use one type of block (but up to 100 of that one block); one type of bridge (but up to 50 of those); etc. Basically you get one item from each category, excluding grids. You are not limited on quantity of objects, just type. Your finished map should consist of no more than seven types of objects, one from each category.
Hmm, I hadn't considered the possibility of multiple entries. Emergency judgment call time: you can submit as many maps as you want (as long as they meet the contest criteria of course). However, I'd urge you to consider spending as much time as you can testing your favorite entry rather than building several alternate ones. I know from experience that a complete "design, build and testing" cycle can take weeks or even months, so I imagine our eventual winners will probably be maps that had the most time put into them.
I'm feeling this contest even though I kinda got burned on the last community contest (it involved a certain budget of $5000), so I hope this one follows through to the end. I like the 7 piece restriction, it forces creativity. Looking forward to seeing everyone's entries too. Contests seem to bring out the best in forgers.
Ok, quick question...Do gadgets such as toys, shields, and man cannons count as a part of our 7 piece minimum? And does anything else that isn't in the building materials section count as a piece to the 7 we can have? Tell me if I need to reword those questions. -Thanks-
You can use as many (quantity) and as many types of non-structure objects as you like - so any of the man cannons, shields, toys, and so on. The limitations are in the structure object categories and the total map budget.
Oh my holy hell! Why am I only just finding out about this contest now???? GAH! I'd love to make a map for this contest, but I honestly don't think I'll make the deadline. I'll do my best, but if I don't end up submitting anything, I could help you guys with the testing if you would be willing to accept my help?
I hope you can make the cutoff, even if it means testing a little less than usual. But if you do miss it, we'd be glad to have you in our testing lobbies if there's room. Of course, I don't think we'll lack for players, and we already have five judges, so... You still have some days left, hope you get it done! Looks like the bulk of our submissions will be last-minute, so you won't be alone on that. Good luck, sir.
I want to try and get a few tests more on my submission (which has been quite difficult to do as of late). I fear the layout is incomplete or inferior to a possible reworked one, although I don't know how to alter it within our restrictions and make it work well. The games have been fun though, so I probobly won't end up changing anything more.
