I myself wouldn't mind a map download as long as it meant I'd be playing something that's immersive and doesn't have the same color palette as every other map. Nor would i mind having to switch discs to forge if it meant there would be a less limitations and restrictions within the editor. I think if this idea was put into motion with something like halo, there would be a lot more interesting things coming out of the community. a smaller but more dedicated group probably.

What Cryppy said. A wealth of new locales, objects, textures and maybe some switches.

ive also been thinking about this for a long time it would work for us forgers and custom gamers so much more yes it means we have to take out the multiplayer and campaign disk to the forge disk but thas a tiny price to pay for all the extra stuff well be able to get i mean no doubt we would be able to get twice as much as wot we can already get in halo reach so imagine all that x2 i mean tha would just be epic tha means doors that we can open and close more material varietys more walls etc more money more items on a map etc even more maps like a more variety types of like forge world like a snowy one a desert one a jungle one etc so yeah i would for this to happen :D
and also i forgot to add something alse i would love would be like group maps so we could make proper map packs so we could put all the maps in one folder call it wot ever and then when you download it you download all maps wheather its 2, 3, 4 maps but odviously there would have to be a limit of like 4 maps but yeah i would love tha as well :D bit lengthy i know but still

Lots of valid points. I would like to see a "forgeworld" for Human (Reach?) and Covenant (High Charity?) locations with interchangeable palettes, and maybe even a basic trigger structure (regions, timers, events). That doesn't seem to stray too far from what's already available. I strongly agree with keeping close to the streamlined formula. But I don't think that means their shouldn't be an advanced mode or more advanced features available to those seeking them.

If it was a different game, then the content would be difficult to make work with the corresponding Halo engine. Of course it would allow for a massive amount of content as well as tons of forge worlds and high budgets but it just feels like a very bad idea.

    A seperate game? No.

A seperate disc however would be more reasonable. Sorta like Battlefield 3 where all singleplayer is one disc and all multiplayer is another.

Perhaps there could be 2 discs for Halo 5? Halo 5 is because surely the new console will be out by then. Halo 4 is coming out this year and I doubt the new console could be out soon. Atleast I don't think. I don't keep up with much news.

New console is for more power because forgable firefight maps and weather is bound to be laggy.

Back to the two discs I was thinking one disc would have campaign, customs, theater and matchmaking while the second will be customs, forge and theater. No matchmaking because this disc is all customs stuff such as films, forge (obviously) and custom games to test them. I'm sure matchmaking takes up space on the disc.

Although I'm sure for some things such as terrain editing to work we would need a PC disc that creates maps that can be imported onto the XBOX.

Switches and actual doors sounds like an interesting idea. How hard would it be to have a Crop/Cut tool for forge pieces? Surely you've had those times where you wished that you could have an opening in the object or the object was smaller.

they should have an in-game forge like reaches and have one for a computer (mac/windows) so you can edit it there as well. I think it would be a good idea because the computer I think could handle things like this better.

I would say it would better to keep multiplayer and forge on a seperate disc from campign / firefight. I disagree making it a seperate game, but a seperate disc for forge and multiplayer would make sense. Also, there was many overlapping textures on each object which promoted framerate. Framerate can be solved if the map is rendered as a single object instead of being rendered as several objects when it is reloaded. That can be done by changing the file type like you would turn a 3D max file to a WMP file. Less information is needed to load the file, hence reduced framerate. This much I know even if I know little of programming. On the other hand, I would not increase the object limit at all, but I would like to see more variety of objects and different canvases for more depth of forging instead of having to forge on the same canvas every time. Also, reducing on textures and simplifying on the blocks would greatly help FR (AKA glass on each object).

Completely agree. I love reading Nutdusters comments. The limit in forge is also something I like about it. You have to be creative and use what limited things you have. Maybe make it easier to use those things, that's what I would suggest.

I had an idea to add to the terrain editing problem, possibly they could use some of the programing that was in the game Fracture to be able to change terrain?

Weather, or for the sake of argument, anything implemented into the game would not be "laggy". It isn't like if a game developer such as bungie or 343 wanted to implement something of that nature into the game they would toss it in there and it would remain a buggy, laggy, mess. No, they would make it work. Now the real question is can it be done. I too have to say though that it couldn't be done on this generation of consoles. I say this because it would absolutely have to be dynamic,(imagine building a sealed off mansion of some sort and having rain particles fly through it like nothing was there) and like all dynamic effects in games, they cost valuable resources which can slow a games framerate down.

to address your terrain editing theory of the process only being available via pc, look at farcry's terrain editor, they have had a terrain edit feature since the first far cry on the original xbox. the majority of these potential features in forge is possible, it is all just a matter of how far the developers want to go with forge mode.

sadly i do not think this would happen i would love for it to happen but its been said before it would be "tedious" to keep switching disks... however it is something i would be willing to do seeing as i spend a good portion of my time in the forge mode. some of the effects such as rain i think would still cause very horrible frame rate issues even if it was included in its own disk i heard that they were thinking about doing something of this sort in halo four. it would be very nice to get a more in depth forge mode but you have to remember... just because the fore mode is boosted up does not mean file shareing would be to people already make some amazing maps and those already have frame rate issues imagine that times ten custom games would still be on the main disk so that disk is going to have frame rate and lag issues if you put too much content on it honestly i love the forge mode and would love it to be boosted... but not so much that it would be unplayable on slowere consols.

I could see that happening someday without a doubt...
It should give an option to save it to harddrive and when putting it the regular disc, maybe u can load or save the map on the disc?
And I'd like the ability to throw in a second cam that would show up when selecting the map in the mp menu instead of a canvas map image.
Plus... Throwing in boats would give a more invasion feel to the invasion gametype. (carrier boats, attack boats)

TBH I can't see forge getting better on this generation of console, the 360 simply isn't powerful enough to do any better. Hell, we already have enough problems with framerate.
