Hi. This thread is for those with a love of all things Anime and/or Manga. Feel free to share with us all your favourite shows/books, we won't judge you on what you like over what we like. It's all happy families around here. We like all forms of Anime and Manga and are open to new ideas. Got a cool series you want to share with us? Go ahead. Want to discuss who's the hottest/coolest/most badass character? Feel free. Please try and do this as much as possible as anyone could be looking through this thread and might not want their favourite series they're currently watching to be spoiled for them. You'd be mad if someone else did it so think a little. Make sure you put a little warning as well, so people know what the nature of the content of the spoiler is. This is not the off-topic forum, nor are we going to tolerate any kind of hate or trolling of this thread. Be careful when linking to streaming sites, as some contain some inappropriate content. You ARE allowed to discuss it. Just don't link to it in the actual thread.
Soo.... I can talk about shojo manga? jk. Nice to have this thread up finally. For those looking for Anime to watch, I can list a metric **** ton of them for you, subbed or dubbed. Whatever your preference.
Why have we still got only one post? Come on you closet anime fans. Come out and show us who you are.
My favorite anime series in no particular order: FLCL (FOOOLY COOLY) just watch it Rahxephon (a better neo genesis evangelion)(u can understand the story) Serial Experiment Lain (amazing) (hard to understand lots of cyber/internet stuff) Big O (guy who did the orignal animated batman) Ranma 1/2 (old school style) Outlaw Star (old school new school) Cowboy Bebop (new school) Samurai Shamploo (new new school) I could probably go on some more but i actually own all of these DVDs... legally
Seen all of what you listed but these two, mainly because I thought the beginning of Lain was a little slow, I may give it another try though. Since we're on the topic of favorites, I'll list mine I suppose... In no particular order: Baccano! FMA: Brotherhood Darker Than Black Speed Grapher Blood+ Steins Gate Angel Beats! .Hack // Sign The Girl Who Leapt Through Time Kamisama no Memochou Un-Go Bakemonogatari (and its sequel, Nisemonogatari) Mawaru Penguindrum Level E Tsubasa: Reservoir Chronicle xxxHolic (is not inappropriate in nature as the title suggests) I've separated Dubbed from subbed for those of you who have a preference. I'm probably going to start making a comprehensive list of everything I've seen because it's getting difficult to name all of these off the top of my head now. Also, I kept the list to completed anime (with the exception of Nisemonogatari) just for the sake of making it easier for people to find them if they want to watch them.
Yeah Lain is very slow its a very mental anime very much like Bogiebob phantom and Paranoia Agent the later being excellent as well because it is much faster pace. Lain is really cool because it a great story but unlike Neon Genesis you can actually understand it. Big O your just going to love its like cheezy but not at all and the story althought cliche is excellent. Warning tho they rush the final 2 episodes because they didnt get funded for a 3rd and the second season almost didnt happen so happy this show did get a season 2. Baccano i watch a few episodes and i was just very bored of it. If you could sell me on it id give it a chance. FMA Brotherhood is just amazing i saw both series (original first is a must, so u can appreciate Brotherhood even more) and i saw shambala movie Hack sign i really wanted to see more i saw it a few times on late night tv. And the girl one just sounds cool from the name so im looking that up as i type.
Mine are: Bakemonogatari - anything by SHAFT really. Angel Beats! Welcome to the NHK! katanagatari If you liked The Girl Who Leapt Through Time you should check out Summer Wars. They aren't really similar, but they're by the same director whom is very good. As for my favorite director, i'd have to say Hayao Miyazaki. I've seen just about all of his works and love em'. I usually prefer sub over dub. I just can't take some of the voices >_<. In cases like Baccano! though...
Baccano is basically the Pulp Fiction of anime, it goes through all the main characters viewpoints of the incident on the train which all ties together different pieces of information together to form a plot out of the chaos, and they aren't necessarily in chronological order either. The main part of it I liked was the relationship between Isaac and Miria. I've also seen Paranoia Agent, it was good. I seem to like weird psychological anime like it. While not on my top anime, these two are pretty damned good. Summer wars was also good, but yeah you are right to say they aren't very similar, and I would have added NHK to my list if it weren't for the fact I didn't really like all of his delusions being so frequent. It was good other than that though.
Baccano was confusing for me, haha. Though I like how the whole show took place over a couple of hours. Have you seen Durarara? They're both made by the same person and made in the same omniscient point of view, but this one has more of a supernatural highschool thing going on. I was watching Darker Than Black until I was forced to cancel Netflix Angel Beats was a great anime. The thing I didn't like about it though was that throughout the anime it wasn't very romantic, but at the end there was just an overdramatic romantic moment that I just couldn't get into. Other than that it was exceptional. Different styled plot, distinct characters, and some pretty good animation. I never could get into Code Geass. I only watched 1 or 2 episodes though, so i'm biased. I'll have to go out and get those dvds. I've never watched R+V, but I read the manga a long time ago. I've been wanting to read the second season for some time now. I remember watching Eden of the East when it was playing on television, haha. This is one of those anime that I don't think people will know about, but should. It's very good.
Didnt see yours. Fooly Cooly was weird, haha. It didn't make sense at all in some parts, but that's what kept it interesting. Too bad it's so short. I don't know to what calibur you like that crazy stuff, but Mind Game fits the category perfectly It's more of an acid trip though, haha. Cencoroll Trailer 2 - YouTube This is pretty weird too, haha. It's just a short, 30 minute film, but still really good. I love the simplistic animation. I've heard good things about Ranma, but it's so old and I just can't stand older things for some reason. Cowboy Bebop and Samurai Champloo were awesome. They both blend multiple genres that have no relevance to each other, making them very unique. Out of the two i'd have to say I enjoyed SC more because it was funny as hell, but had some good action too. Has anyone seen Cencoroll? haha, I'm getting way to into this.
Looks like someone found a gem I haven't seen yet. Cencoroll that is. Gonna watch it this week. EDIT: Watched Cencoroll. Basically amounts to pokemon on psychadelics. Good music, weird looking creatures. Downsides are that its too short to have much character development or much of a story to it.
True, it is too short, but suprisingly it was made by only one person. They announced a second movie that will be full length supposedly. センコãƒ*ール(トレーラー)ï¼å‹•ç”»é©å‘½æ±äº¬ - YouTube Here's another one I've been anticipating. It's release date is still to be announced though... Ignore the continuous shouts. 一輪者 ICHIRIN-SHA - YouTube
Hmm, forum for teh otakuz. I like this thread! Fav Anime: Sora No Otoshimono Girls Bravo Shuffle! Angel Beats! Clannad xxxHolic Lucky Star Naruto Soul Eater As far as manga goes, I don't have much cause my bookstore is horrible and I can't get stuff online but I do have: I am Here Lucky Star Inukami! .hack I love anime and manga, been watching it since I was five. Good ol' days of Sailor Moon, good days...
BERSERK GASARAKI GURREN LAGANN love old school animes like: Martian Successor Nadesico Gundam ZZ Macross 7 Patlabor Dominion Tank Police **** like that. if anything though, at least watch Berserk
Code Geass is a pretty good anime, sorta like Gundam (a little). It's pretty long though. There's 2 seasons and each are 25 episodes. Rosario + Vampire, believe it or not, is my favorite out of all of these listed. Compared to the other 2 on my list, that sounds pretty odd. The anime is good, people say its not. The manga is completely different though. They really should make a third season. Eden of the East is VERY underrated. The trailers for FUNimation make look like a Jason Bourne movie, but its not. Its still very good and I HIGHLY recommend it for those of you who haven;t seen it. Seriously, go watch it if you haven't.
Yay, thread is going somewhere! As for me: Soul Eater (My friend showed me it and got me into anime because of it) Rosario + Vampire (Funniest anime ever) Highschool of the Dead Zoids (First 2 series)
