Just thought I would let you other MLG'ers out there know. Link Edit: Guardian Ball is coming back in replace of Amplified King of the Hill. I will link when it is officially posted at MLG (it has only been released in the forums by a staff member).
v5? whats the matter with v4, although, i heard they where getting new maps which makes me rlyhppypl0xx
They worked, but they had a lot of issues. Construct sniper was on wrong timer, Pit's CTF spawns were messed up, Narrows spawns weren't very good, Onslaught was an outdated version and had bad spawns, and they had to add Blackout and Amplified. The lineup is good, but I would have done it like this: Guardian-TS, Ball Pit-TS, CTF Construct-TS, KoTH Narrows-CTF Onslaught-CTF Amplified-TS, KoTH Lockdown-TS Blackout- TS, Ball This way you have two Balls, which is too good of a gametype to have 1 gametype, on Guardian and Blackout since they play so differently. Then, there are two KoTH's, 3 CTF's, and 6 TS. This way there aren't 3 gametypes for Pit (KoTH isn't that great here), and there are a variety of maps, which only land a spot if the gametype runs flawlessly. The current lineup will run fine, but until June, Blackout will not be played in the circuit, which means that there is no Ball until then. You can expect them to keep changing settings around for a while as long as Bungie is releasing new maps, and people are forging them. When v6 rolls around, you can expect to find Lockdown there, which didn't make it purely because it wasn't released in time to make the tweaks necessary by MLG.
Yea, I was disappointed that Lockdown wasn't included in v5. Amplified is still good, but Lockdown was really fun for slayer. Its also unfortunate that they took out Guardian Ball for whatever reason. I think it was exciting to play, and it took a lot of teamwork. Now there is only one Oddball map which is a shame.
I disagree. The old one was way too open, so the spawns suffered. The only new cover added is the bottoms of the bases and the dumpsters that block the view from one side of the tunnel to the other. The map has more cover, but it still has the same fast paced gameplay and lines of sight across the map. The map is really solid, and I would rather see TS in v5 of this than Amplified, which is good but not good enough to make it in over the likes of Legacy, Lockdown, Hangout, and maybe even Stockpile.
All I know is that the version of Onlsaught currently in MM is terrible for slayer. It's too chaotic, and you can hardly set up any real strategy, not to mention getting spawn killed like crazy. I don't really mind Amplified, but I agree that Lockdown and Legacy are way better maps and should have been included instead.
The reason that I think Amplified got chosen over Lockdown and Legacy is because it had been out for so much longer that the map was able to make the adjustments necessary in time for it to be ready for the testing. Legacy was actually made quite a while ago but wasn't made by a distinguished Forger like the creators of Amp., Onslaught, and Lockdown, so it didn't get the exposure necessary to make enough adjustments to make it. Lockdown didn't make it because the final version of the map wasn't ready to go, so Nexn decided that he didn't want to include it in testing for v5 because it could turn out like Onslaught, which hadn't been tested and adjusted enough. I actually prefer v5 Onslaught slayer to v5 Amplified slayer. I really feel that Amplified is only going to be around for one version because it is starting to catch some heat, and when Lockdown comes in, it could be out since that would be 3 similar Foundry maps. On another note, I really love Hangout, which was named after Chill Out and Hang Em High for its similarities in gameplay to those two and all Halo 1 maps. It is the first version and runs great for 2v2, but it is going to be cleaned up and changed around to cater 4v4 better. It is great that MLG Forgers are starting to avoid the unoriginal symmetrical 2/4 base maps and working towards asymmetric maps that have a very different play style. There are a couple asymmetric projects happening over on the MLG Forge Forums also. I really feel Hangout needs the exposure and stay in tune for cleaned up newer versions. Hangout
I'm really loving Hangout. I was following the whole process (in the shadows, I've got nothing to bring to MLG) of that whole build, and Azazel really nailed the old Halo CE feel with his version. I'm really impressed with what he was able to accomplish and keep the map from being budget glitched. Just a few more tweaks to smooth out some areas and it'll be a mainstay on my HD. I'll probably do it on my own because I like the map that much.
Same. If you check the MLG forums, I love it so much that I posted about it on those forums to try to post it here. Azazel said he didn't want to release it here until a newer and cleaner version is released, but I really hope this map is considered for MLG because it would add so much more variety to their circuit and would bring endless fun on the MLG playlist. Also, in recent news, Guardian Ball is coming back through popular vote and is going to replace Amplified King of the Hill. I am glad that Ball is going to be kept around, and KoTH, which is my least favorite gametype, is going to only have 2 gametypes.
Thank god guardian ball is coming back. Yeah amps not being too well received over on the mlg forums, I think it needs some major spawn changes immediately.
Yeah, I saw that you posted there. Looks like Azazel and Fritzster are cleaning it up, so it'll be interesting to see what they do. Just messing around deleting stuff laying around the outside of the map (there's a pallet laying under the Rocket room and A signs in each base), I was able to pull in another $16 to the budget. They can definitely work with that.
I checked out Hang Out, and its kinda cool. I think i was expecting more, but thats ok. And I'm not one to usually bring this up, but if its going to go into matchmaking, you better make damn sure its unbreakable (as of now, it is). Hopefully Lockdown will get the nod next version, though.
From reading the thread over there, The Hangout wasn't released as a 'finished' version. Just one to show the community over there what had been changed from the original concept.
