On 01/11/11 EA Games shut down the servers for Battle for Middle-earth II, the best real-time strategy game for Xbox 360. My friend and I have created a playable Middle-earth map to honor its legacy. All coordinates for each object have been double-checked and triple-checked. Our map may be the only competitive map that spans all of Forge World Moria (inside) Moria (outside) Rivendell Mordor Helm's Deep This map is compatible with the Invasion: Middle-earth game type and with Invasion: Slayer. Just make sure to edit the game options so that vehicles are enabled. Slayer and Team Slayer are also possible on Middle-earth, but they are NOT recommended. Download the map and game type Blue team directives: I. Steal the core from Balin's tomb. Capture the core below the staircases II. Bring the bomb from Mordor to Rivendell or Helm's Deep III. Capture the territory in Rivendell or Helm's Deep Red team directives: I. Protect the core in Balin's tomb. Watch out for trolls II. Divide your forces among Rivendell and Helm's Deep III. Use the teleporters to aid your allies. Be quick to call out an attack Spartan Tier 3 loadouts: Eagle (Assault Rifle, Magnum, Jet Pack, 1x Frag Grenade) Ranger (DMR, Magnum, Sprint) Gladiator (Energy Sword, Assault Rifle, Hologram, 1x Frag Grenade) Elite Tier 3 loadouts: Spectre (Plasma Repeater, Plasma Rifle, Active Camo, 1x Plasma Grenade) Dark Assassin (Needle Rife, Needler, Evade, 1x Plasma Grenade) Berserker (Gravity Hammer, Spiker, Sprint) I would encourage those who like the map to recommend it. Any feedback would be appreciated
wow ... this is impressive. This is a massive map and I can definitly see the resemblence. Some great aesthetic features. I love the castle on the water and helm deep looks good considering budget... you have made the lord of the rings over the whole of forge world . Most impressive, looking forward to testing this out now!
looks very cool, neat, and awesome. it would be nice however, if you set this up for XLBTB maps. put some spawns in the seperate bases. This map will be become very popular with the newer players in halo if it was set up for slayer. not to say this would be bad slayer, just that newer players(and other player) really like GINOURMOUS maps to play on. But seriously, set this up for slayer, and assault, and CTF. Thats would be awesome. and add guns and vehicles
agreed. amazing map, set it up for slayer/team slayer and you have an automatic download from me. lol, just think, a map so huge that big 8v8 team slayer feels like small 2v2... sounds awesome to me, and completely different than any other map that i know of. EDIT: After playing around on the map with my friend, I have to say, It's pretty awesome! Huge! My only suggestion is that maybe you could make a version of the map leaning more towards gameplay over aesthetics so games of btb would be possible? Maybe roads or tele's that connect each area so that transportation to all areas would be possible? I noticed it was somewhat difficult to get out of the castle structure with the warthog and I couldn't find a way into the base in the hanger without flying up there. I REALLY like the idea of a map that makes use of the full forgeworld region. Other than that, amazing work, truly awesome, it's clear you put a lot of work into this. congrats on the nice map!
Thank you for the suggestions. Middle-earth is now compatible with Invasion: Slayer. Just make sure to edit the game options so that vehicles are enabled. Slayer and Team Slayer are also possible on Middle-earth, but they are NOT recommended ------- Thank you! I'm really glad you like it I could delete the Colosseum area of this map to make room for a fluid BTB variant, but I'll wait to see if Middle-earth becomes more popular first The Colosseum area of Middle-earth is inaccessible without Invasion: Middle-earth because creating fluid transportation to that area was very difficult on a very tight budget. However, I have placed spawns in the Colosseum area so that it can be accessed in a very casual game of Slayer with buddies. There weren't enough teleporters to go around though The Warthog in Helm's Deep only appears in Invasion: Middle-earth after the Elites have destroyed the wall at Helm's Deep. That creates a lot of space for the Warthog to exit. The wall is always destroyed in game types other than Invasion: Middle-earth ------- Without the Invasion spawns, I fear that this map would be very frustrating and too big. We have carefully squeezed every penny out of our budget and there isn't room for additional vehicles or teleporters. There just isn't enough money to make the map play smoothly without Invasion or Invasion: Slayer. Unfortunately, Invasion is limited to 12 players
You realize why this is the only map to span Forge World? It's not good. It's been tried by many, but the budget just doesn't allow, and Forge World is just too big. If you could do maybe a 5 stage Invasion and had unlimited budget, maybe, but it just can't be done. This is Halo, not Battle for Middle-Earth. Oh, and you missed the pillar.
Wait... this is Halo? I thought I was playing StarCraft 2! Anyway, I don’t mean to be rude, but I found your criticism to be kind of pointless. I would've appreciated it if you had actually evaluated my work before criticizing the idea. Of course there are limitations, but I’d like to think I did an okay job making it work despite them. And the pillar is actually used as the mountain peak where Gandalf kills the Balrog. It’s got some ruins and is accessed by making the same fall Gandalf makes late in the first phase. A Falcon (AKA an eagle) and Spartan Laser will spawn if the Gandalf is patient enough so he can come back to turn the tides. It’s just an Easter egg of sorts. You might’ve known that if you had checked. But thanks for your input nonetheless!
