Map preview or not? (POLL)

So you made a third thread to ask if you should make a preview. I guess I shouldn't be surprised any more about how big people's egos are.

 

Discussion about forge Shik. Not a debate about posting a map or preview. You sir are in the wrong place.

 

while i don't agree with the need for the question i sincerely do not believe that Shik's motives were not of self promotion or egotism. Either provide an answer to him or dont talk here, bashing him like that won't solve anything really.

Shik, I think that a preview is a good idea to put out a beta version or to build some interest in your map, should it catch the eye of the public. However it sounds like you have finished this map and therefore don't need a preview. If it are not close to done then I say go for the preview- if not then just post it, or get some final tests then post. It really depends on where you are in the build. Previews generally are for maps in production or beginning the testing phase, not ones nearly or already finished.

 

I have noticed lower amounts of comments on new maps if a preview is posted first. But the preview section is useful if it needs opinions to fix parts and can also help in testing. Majority of maps that go through testers guild, are more likely to receive comments as fh users test and can give more feedback.
I admit I comment less on maps posted as I don't do many customs and play maps properly to be able to give useful feedback.

 

Preview it. I'd rather somebody give me useful tips and feedback instead of saying "kewl map man! im goings to download!".

Nah, a lot of people post previews and we never see the finished map posted. That, or it's posted so long afterwards, that no one remembers it anyways.

I know, I have done the same, I just remember seeing all of Erupt's map previews seeing someone say it will never be posted and that I never actually do see them posted. He just came to mind when I saw LD's post.
