    Pirates Cove

    Savage Tracks Official Game Variants

Pirates Cove is a brand new Savage Tracks map built on the outside of forgeworld. You will drive and fight your way though a haunted pirate ship. The ship has run a ground near the rocks so be careful near the bow section. It is been warned that some of the hatches shall reap hidden rewards. This old ship holds many secrets and risk vs reward style game play.

The map has been balanced to be competitive with the official Savage Tracks game variants. The map also works great with Rocket Race and Rally. So fire up a party of 6 to 10 players and let the fun begin.

Does the ramp on the front of the ship go underwater (where you can go really deep underwater?) Im building a race map right now that uses that and it spirals in and out... very hard to handle a mongoose underwater :) The ship looks really good.

This map looks interesting I love the whole concept of being able to in a pirate ship and under the water my only problem is the fact that the pirate doesn't look like a pirate ship I mean its to big and it is missing a lot of things like the sail. great map but there was a lot more that could have been done

Yes. The front ramp leads to the under water section. Driving is no problem under there. Just slow down for a split second right as you enter the ocean. This will prevent you from popping a wheelie.

I think it looks close enough. I cant add any more as you suggested because i am already at 0 dollars on the budget. I dont really care about aesthetics as much as you and most people on this forum. I care a lot more about game play. Thats what matters to me.. How fun and competitive a map is, rathet than how much scenery one can cram in. Did you all get a chance to actually play the map? I would like some feedback on game play, thanks!

The overall theme of this map is executed well, and it is very smooth and easy to race on. However, with all of the different levels, there isn't a multitude of lines of sight. Luck seems to be the prominent factor in who will win, rather than who can drive or shoot the best. This could be said about a lot of Rally-based maps, though. I think it would help if you lowered some portions of the railing on the top level, so you could jump down in more than just the one or two spots. The map looks great, but I don't think the gameplay is up to par with some of your previous maps.

Thanks. I don't really agree though. We played last night and the gameplay was great. Knowing the short cuts and the layout of the map really helped to formulate a strategy. To me "lines of sight" are much more relevant on a Battle Tracks map. Rally maps are more about close and unpredictable driving/combat. I didn't want to lower more of the railings because then the game play would be too open ended. I purposely made the risk vs reward sections as balanced as I could. This way one could take path A or B and wind up in a similar place at a similar time. Simply lowering rails and or creating more paths would seriously destroy any form of strategy or consistency in the game play. I am sure once you play the map a few more times, this might become more evident.

Thanks man! It's not really a race map. It's a Rally map. I like to come up with themes for all my maps. I usually forge with a purpose in mind. A central theme so to speak. I was going through ideas in my head, and decided to make a pirate ship. It plays really well with the official Savage Tracks game variants. Make sure to DL them and get a party of at least four to five teams of two. Have fun:)

The ship looks really good, but the area next to it just does not look too appealing. IMO, rebuild the ship next to the island and incorporate its natural geometry rather than building your own.

No way. The map is done. Are you insane? Why does just about everyone always say the same thing? Aesthetic this, plain that.. If you read my other responses, you will see that I am growing tired of comments like these. Back in the day here at forgehub, most members who have been here a long time would actually DL a map, play it, and then come back with some REAL feedback. Not just unrelated comments.

Hey man at least I commented rather than skipping right over it. As a map maker myself, I want comments about anything. Chill out and be grateful that I was trying to help you by expressing my opinion about it.

Next time I see a map of yours, I'll know not comment.

I don't really care are about bumps and DL numbers. I would rather have no comment unless it talked about the map and game play.

Yeah Paul, I love that man cannon you placed at the bottom that makes you fly back up onto the ship. The way you angled it was so perfect. I don't know if I would have thought of that idea. Now that I played the map a bunch of times, I can't see the map without it:)
