Pandora's Fear This is my latest Infection map. It is a very close quartered map built for Alpha Zombies. The infected spawn in a teleporter room, which transports them to their desired location on the map. The Survivors spawn at the far end of this cave. There is two receiver nodes in the cave. At the end of the cave is the entrance to the complex. A good holdout point with 3 or more survivors. A fusion coil is at each end of the small incline in the middle of this room. Use them to your advantage. This is the first room that you will come across in the complex. The infected can get to you from the ceiling and a one way shield door. The complex then splits into two routes. After a tight corridor you will come to this room. It has a great view but dont hang around too long, it isnt the safest place. The infected can get to you from two holes in the ceiling. The other route, up the stairs, takes you to this room. The infected can only get to you through the two main entrances to this room, but don't think it makes it the safest place... This room connects the two routes together, after a flight of stairs past the first route. The infected teleport to a small hive in the double hight ceiling. Action shots: [UPDATE] - Added Next Gen FX to make it look extra spooky. - Added some more aesthetics including fire extinguishers. - Added more lighting in the cave. - Fixed map break Fun fact - enable 'weapons on map' before playing to torment your fellow survivors Thank you for viewing my map and be sure to download!
Yeah it is, I'm thinking of adding an effect to make it more atmospheric first though. I better get a jiffy on. [br][/br]Edited by merge: The download link should be right now. So get downloading!
Yeah man, it was sick. We played it all night Erm, the main build took around 4-5 hours, then I was refining and adding detail for about another 5 hours. Worth it in the end
Haha yeah theres a cave already built into the map. I covered one end up with natural rocks and the other end with the actual building. XD
I was looking at your map and had a hard time understanding the hidden rooms with the receiver nodes. How are you able to travel to these areas during gameplay?
That room is just for the zombies to spawn in and to teleport around the map. Humans cannot get to that room. I didnt use spawn points because the zombies would allways spawn furthest away from the humans.
Yeah it is, but you need to change the alpha zombies gametype to allow weapons on map (not weapon pick up) for it to be enabled.
I really feel like I have to say something about this map, so here we go. To be honest, I wasn't really impressed by the looks of the map at first. It seemed to be a standard, medium sized infection map with a few good aesthetics like the turret but not much else worth mentioning. A reason for this arrogance might have been that I had been making a map for the contest myself and was probably disappointed that I didn't end up as high as I wanted But, when I downloaded this map and looked around in Forge I was just blown away. I haven't seen many maps that were so well themed, and so frightening without even playing a game on it yet. The gateways looked great but the outside aesthetics were just amazing. The warthog, standing there with the huge lowland in the background, waiting for the survivors to enter it and drive off to safety, did it for me. This is an awesome map and I am really glad I took the time to play a game on this map since it was unbelieveably balanced as well. Thanks for making this map and you definitely deserved to be in the top 3 of the contest results. Great job, keep up the good work
Wow, thank you. Im so glad you gave the map a DL. Those comments make it all worth while. I didn't think that Warthog would have such a big effect on the atmosphere of it. So, thank you for the feedback and giving Pandora's Fear the chance that it deserved
Infection maps are usually notorious for becoming uniteresting, so its good to see an infection map featured. I myself being an infection enthusiast love them and pride myself to making better infection maps. Seeing this map makes me really want to improve on my forging skills and make an outstanding infection map. Congratz on this most deserving feature Elliot...
Congrats on the feature man, when I saw this I honestly, just skipped it, like oh it's just another thrown together cave map. I like this though, it looks like you built it in the cave then it expands out to the canyon area, which I really like. It's unique, and the aesthetics are cool.
Thanks, it's great to see my map encouraging others to take on an infection map. [br][/br]Edited by merge: Thank you To be honest, I don't blame you, at first it doesn't really look like much but, (trying not to sound cocky) there is alot more to it.
Well, well well... we played this map last night in our lobby and I gotta say it was definitely chaotic. Zombies coming from every which way, tight corridors, fast gameplay. All with strong aesthetics to boot. I can confidently say that this map will remain one of my favorite infection maps to date.
Thanks Ticky! Glad yoy enjoyed it. Did the explosives come into play? They can cause some right banter.
This was my favorite map on bioc. Close quarters everywhere, highly detailed. Awesome. It was my first time playing it and I already found myself wanting to play it more.
