Unless of course there's a party of 8 for the opposing team and they all pick poorly forged maps because they can abuse the hell out of it as a team...
I can't understand why people still vote for Hemorrhage. They need to change the weighting on it so it comes up less, or remove it completely.
That happens occasionally with Renegade (I remembered its name!) but mostly they just pick Hemorrhage, because that map is easy enough to abuse once you get control of it. Renegade is basically Hemorrhage with greater possibilities for abuse. Never had a problem with that, although I hear this complaint a lot. I understand sniper makes it a lot worse. I've played plenty of standard DMR games on it and never been bothered by it... Apparently the shields on the bases (which were added by Bungie) contributed greatly to that problem. This will never happen, and it's because 95% of the people in BTB disagree with you. Hemorrhage is what it is: a big play area for vehicles to roam freely around, and snipers to rack up kills. That's what most people want out of BTB and that's why it's so much more popular than the other maps. In my opinion, it's an acceptable re-do of Blood Gulch. I hear quite often that it's far worse, but actually it's about the same except for being somewhat bigger (to accommodate sprint and evade, presumably) and not being able to snipe base to base (to which I say thumbs up - like Blood Gulch didn't have enough problems with not being able to get out of your own base alive). Spawning is actually superior to the Gulch, which had significant spawn-killing problems. The main issues with Hemorrhage: 1. Spawning away from the base is weighted too heavily. Which is to say, spawning in, on, or very near the base isn't weighted heavily enough. The very thing that makes Hemorrhage fun for a lot of people - all those vehicles - makes it a real drag for spawning anywhere except by the bases and the vehicles. I can't stand being on blue team and spawning multiple times in a row by the teleporter exit - what were they thinking? That should be a safety valve spawn area only, and nothing more. If you spawn out there 2-3 times in a round of one flag, you may as well put your controller down and wait for the round to end, because it takes too damn long to backtrack to your own base, and too long to get to the other base on foot, alive. 2. Active camo + sniper. I kind of hate camo AA on all maps and in all playlists, but on a huge map with two full snipers, it sucks the worst. Just remove camo and this problem goes away. 3. The stupid little snipe spots you can jetpack up to. Not a major problem because most people don't bother with them, but they should be fixed anyway. 4. Wraith/snipe spawnrape-age. Again, more spawn points in/on/near the bases, and more heavily weighted, would help a lot here. It's pretty easy to take out a wraith with the EMP power of the plasma pistol, but you have to get to it first. And it's easier to survive a sniper with cover, which exists at the base but is in short supply in all the other spawn areas. 5. Those campy little bunker bases. But it was a flaw in Blood Gulch, so it remains one in Hemorrhage, I guess. This doesn't impact most games much, but it's extremely annoying in asymm objective games.
If there's one thing that I've learned from Living Dead is that people don't give a **** if a map is good or not, they just want to rack up easy kills.
Of the new Infection Maps I've played Deadwalk, Parasitic, Spooky Base and Bedlam. They're all AMAZING even though Bedlam still sucks. I'm still wondering what the standard Maps and standard Infection with Evade are still doing there they should be removed right now they really suck. Seriously, compared with the new Maps the old ones suck even harder than they already did. I really love the new Maps with removed camping spots, enhanced Aesthetics and all the Scenery for cover. Parasitic is probably the mostly changed with the block-offs and Teleporters.
Just played some Living Dead on Penance. They actually added it! But only when you find a group with the Anniversary map packs. It was awesome! I won with 22 kills.
The living Dead map update was not all that great, but did have it's good points. The best map? Uncongealed. The worst? Spooky Base. As if camp base wasn't bad enough already. Playing some matchmaking again was fun though, considering the only game I lost was on camp base.
That gametype is tons better than the one where Zombies have sprint. With Evade zombies actually have a good shot at getting a decent score instead of being cannon-fodder until everyone runs out of ammo.
Not with the new Maps with Camping spots removed and Scenery for cover and more ways to get around(Teleporters, Grav Lifts etc).
Team doubles is so much better now. AR's still bother me, and the bad forge maps do as well, but it's at least bearable now. One thing I noticed with the TU change - I can consistently out DMR people in doubles now. It used to be the case that I'd lose more often than not, so my strategy was much more focused on having an advantage. Now it's much more about surprising opponents by challenging when they except me to back down. Long-range battles are more interested now too, since it makes strafing useful for once. Now, if you get de-scoped in a long-range battle, there's a chance to come back if you've got the skills and balls.
I wish they would take out the following maps in Team Doubles: Unanchored Reflection Countdown Enclosed Synapse Treasury The top 3 have areas in which you can camp with (CQC) power weapons way too easily and the bottom 3 are shitty Forge maps.
Holy ****! Have you people played Count dHouen? If you haven't, do it and check out the Initial Loadout Camera... So cool.
Enclosed is absolutely atrocious. It's bad on 4v4, but dubs is unbearable. Design is awful, flat area with an underused and badly designed lower central area. Spawning is horrible, controlling either side of the map is next to worthless as you seem almost as likely to spawn on the same side of the map as an enemy as you are to spawn on the safe side. Plus, due to the design, Jetpack is king. I hate that map with a passion.
