If he doesn't like it, he doesn't like it. It's that simple. Opinions are opinions, preferences are preferences. If he didn't like Oblivion, there's nearly no chance he'd like Skyrim.

This thread sounds a little fanboy. Everyone jumps on the one person who says they don't like the game.

It's not a perfect game. There have been, and will be, better. I personally loved it, but it has problems.

Agreed. However I would disagree with your 'not liking Oblivion thus not liking Skyrim' statement. I didn't care for Oblivion, never finished it actually, however I really have enjoyed Skyrim so far.

I've played a bit more. Environment is quite beautiful, quests are way more interesting. This lady was being a ***** in this one town. So I killed her cow. She got mad and stabbed me to death. Quite comical.

You sound like you may suffer from the inflated expectations that many people get when they start playing a little late. Then again, it may not be your type of game in the first place. TES has only been trying to court a larger audience since Oblivion, after all.

In the words of TotalBiscuit, "You can dislike something, just don't be a **** about it"
    or something along those lines...

Same goes for people that like something, don't be a **** to people who don't like it.

With that said, I can see why he probably isn't impressed with it. And I did like Oblivion, and do like Skyrim. The fact of the matter is, Skyrim is HIGHLY overrated. Even though it is a good game, not great.

What? It has nothing to do with someone not liking the game. People jump on him because he just says he doesn't like it without elaborating. He has only told us about things he liked and yet he says the game doesn't impress. It's just silly.

I hated oblivion but I love Skyrim.

If I had to guess why it would be I had oblivion on PC which you can easily cheat which FORCES me to choose between Easy win no challenges or Hard challenges I know I can easily beat with cheats, Rage face.

I got skyrim on xbox so there is no easy cheats. Maybe that's why I like skyrim?

So. I'm like level 10. Rode my dragon to that one place to go kill the big dragon. Got mauled. Went home. Started to level up for next attempt.

What armor gives you the most magic?

As could be said about anything ever ;)

As soon as any one person says something is the "best" or "greatest" that is an unfounded opinion that can not be properly supported as it assumes the person has tried every other competitor to that thing that can be compared to. People can still state such things on an unfounded basis with just experience about what they have tried thus far but regardless, "overhyping" something is an innate process of any product before it comes out or in its infancy before the majority of people know about it.

What would be fair is to judge the game on its merits alone and not based on any ill conceived notions of what you hoped for or heard from others. This leads to more enjoyment of the product or at the very least you won't have a preconceived notion of something far greater before even trying it or giving it its due justice (playing the game all the way through)

Just remember, games are programs, large programs. They have specific deadlines and things have to be cut, scrapped, or incorporated in lesser ways then originally intended. Testing is an extensive, expensive process that Publishers can only devote so much time and resources to the developer to before they force a "release date". With DLC the developers can patch mistakes and add content that the users want or that they haven't expected so I find initial hype a flawed concept to begin with, a concept that only helps companies ad campaigns and marketing.

And there are plenty of easy cheats on the xbox version. No console commands but plenty of glitches and game play intricacies that can be abused. Not that one should do those things and cheapens the experience.

I forgot how serious business the internet was. Do I have to explicitly say that I'm giving Skyrim a chance? Skyrim is leagues above Oblivion. I'm now 7 hours into the game and I can say that I like all of the game mechanics. Some voice acting still sucks. I don't fast travel as much, because the world is actually interesting. A courier randomly walked up to me and was like oh you. I have a letter for you. It was someone bitching at me for using my voice and disturbing the peace. I find myself intrigued more than anything.

And yes neo I agree and no overdose stop your bitching. This thread is now my journal for Skyrim.

    Magic or magic resistance?

    I'll give you both!

If you want the most magic, go "Master Robes of (insert magic-tree here)" and "Diadem of the Savant," one of which is random loot at a level greater than 50, and the other of which is found in one of the non-questline dungeons located in/around the Labyrinthian. If you can't get to level 50 fast enough, the
Archmage robs are the second best, and if you aren't strong enough to fight a Dremora Kyreve and two Storm Atronochs, the Dragon Priest Mask (Morvorak or something) that you also get during the Mages Guild quest is the second best alternative there. Problem is that robes make you really weak, so its worth considering to super-level light armor and enchant the chest with the Robe enchant, the boots and gauntlets with resist fire and resist frost (respectively,) and helmet with something random that helps you (or, even better, one of the light-armor Dragon Priest Masks so that you can get the set bonus, if you choose to unlock the perk giving said set bonus in the light-armor-tree (which you should, because it is ****ing badass!))

If you want Magic Resistance, beat Peryite's Daedric Quest (his shrine can be found NNE of Markarth, in the northern part of the wilderness securely INFESTED with Forsworn, near a Dragon Lair) and get the
as your reward, then combine that with the Block-Tree perk that allows you to negate 50% of all elemental damage. Due to Dragon Breath also counting as elemental damage, spells counting as elemental damage, and the perk + the
both giving said 50% resistance to it, you can block ALL non-weapon damage by merely lifting your shield. That is, if you also have the Block-Perk allowing you to repel arrows with a well-timed bash.

Best staff? The fireball of 50 points of damage you get from Krosis, halfway up that pitiful little mountain NE of Whiterun, a little West of the Dwemer Ruin where you
near the end of the thieves guild quest.

    Help?

Kinda random, but what's all the fuss about Frost Trolls? Everyone used to be like "HOLY **** FROST TROLLS WILL EAT OUT YOUR EYES, CUT OFF YOUR HEAD, AND **** DOWN YOUR NECK!" But I took down 3 of them single-handedly at level 7... (This was also before I'd realized that the difficulty was at it's highest setting)

Also, I'm very happy that the random dragon attacks continue after you finish the main questline. I tore through that **** without even killing more than 12 or so dragons. Also, my next goal is to finish taking down the stormcloaks, then buy the house in Windhelm. I've gotten like 30k gold from whoring that Orc controlled mine just southeast of Windhelm. :D

Were they fighting each other and not realize you were there? a frost troll would kill you in about 2 hits at level 7.

Nope. I was walking through the outside of the Labyrinthian and 3 of them started charging at me. 5-10 mins of running away, turning around, and shooting them a couple times later and I'd killed 'em all.

Thats where the problem lies, you took that long to kill them, AND you didn't face them head on.

No **** you aren't going to have a problem with them if you take 5-10 minutes of hit and run to kill them. You can only say they aren't a problem when you stand your ground instead of running like a *****. Even my rogue doesn't run from them, you just took the easy way out of things.
    exactly
