To be honest I don't really see how these guys got famous as they are today. I mean they do show nice maps, but sometimes the gameplay is just awful. So bad sometimes that I can't even get a sense of what its like playing on the map. Watching and playing the map for yourself is completely different, and since they capture the real gameplay experience its hard to get to the closest feel for a map possible. Its not that I hate them, but the method they use to showcase maps is just horrible; I don't even know how they have over 17,000 subscribers today. I just don't get it.
Its the same question as how did Halo Forges get on Machinima. They might have started out really good but then when they got really popular they knew they didn't have to make great videos to get views and money.
Except now larger numbers of their fans are starting to hate them because their videos are dropping in quality, but that's how they were in Halo 3 and everybody loved them; almost all of the maps they showed back then were maps shown here on Forgehub. The likes on their videos are fairly high, but in the comments people are saying that they are horrible and do the worst reviews ever. And they have only 49 episodes in Halo Reach; Team0Epiphany has over 100 right now. Also, the same thing about popularity started ages ago with Team0Epiphany and everybody still loves them. That's the part I'm confused about.
With YouTube, a lot of bigger commentators aren't too amazing and I've seen many small guys who deserve many more views. The only reason why people are popular is because they started when there wasn't too much volume, and people all went to them. Even now, with a giant volume, people are scared to try new people and thus the older channel continue their reign.
That was how Halo Forges started out, then they moved to machinima when they had an enormous volume. You're right, I've seen commentators that deserve many more views than what they already have, yet they have a small volume (DaItalianFish is the best example I can think of). Team0Epiphany doesn't have a small volume anymore for reasons I still don't understand. In my eyes as of now they became famous one day while they had a small volume the day before. I REALLY am not trying to start a flame war. I just want to know answers I don't get.
I completely agree with Mr. Zigywig, I subscribed them when I was first learning of forge in Halo reach, I thought their videos were hilarious and awesome, only because the maps they had where actually nice. Now, it's just them talking and making jokes about "Slicks mom" , or just screwing around. Pretty much, every custom I have with friends, except I actually play the map, and try. I don't know, but I do know that it felt great to unsubscribe. Especially, when they have 3 other accounts to like their own videos with, I'm not 'hating' just my opinion.
This. I don't see how over 17,000 people who are subscribed actually like watching this type of gameplay when all they do is make jokes and do shits and giggles and screw around while playing for 15 minutes. No offense, but I don't think vp snipes tries to capture the best gameplay possible rather he screws around and doesn't care. It just doesn't make sense.
