DerpHerpa Supports 8 - 12 players; Invasion Hey guys Berb here with a little project ive been working on recently. Its a medium-sized Invasion map built on and round Montana. It features a human-occupied forerunner complex under assualt from the covenant. Heres some pics: The opening staging area/ elite spawn leading up to the first phase objectives The main human base. Incudes the human spawns and core spawn The view from one of the human spawns over looking the area One of the second phase obectives in a structure The other second phase objective (a generator) I might post Dl link if anyone is interested. Later
Excellent choice for the name. For some reason most of this doesn't really look forerunner. It's not bad, but not forerunner either. Too many right angles.
Looks great, Berb. Great map name, too. There's just one thing bothering me- The giant forerunner structure. Is there any way you can cover up that hideous texture the 4x4 block has? Other than that, the aesthetics look pretty damn good. I like invasion, so hit me up for a game on this soon.
Really the pics i provided do the aesthetics no justce... though what i hve tried to create is a forerunner-human hybrid
I like the shape of the structures, but the textures are blah. Not that I expect anything great for a map of this size, but yeah. I just wanted to throw that out there for the people talking about the forerunner aesthetics, I guess. Anyways, I like invasion in few cases, it looks like this may be one of them. Invite me anytime I'm on Halo for a game on this.
I find the screenshots underwhelming, but when I actually look at the map in forge, it looks quite good. One thing Berb's always been good at, in my pinion, is creating interesting and unique Forerunner geometry, and I think that is once again the case here. There really aren't a hell of a lot of right angles, and even if it's not Forerunner-y enough, it's still a cool theme regardless, in my opinion. Gameplay, I can only speculate about. Berb's done an admirable job of expanding Montanna, and working around how skinny it is, hopefully it will be enough in practice. I look forward to playing.
Thnks duck, yeah ive tried to create alot of unique structures and pieces in the complex. The only things i have to worry bout gameplay wise are th paths in phase 1-2 and framerate
It looks really nice Berb! Im always a sucker for forerunner themes, and its nice to see another one has been released that features Invasion as its main gametype. To me it really looks like a mix of Forerunner and Covenant technology, especially the generators and the larger structure. The middle brace to me reminds me more of Covenant aesthetics, as if the covenant forces were attempting to repair or rebuild some of the structures integrity, it also reminds me alot of relic in some parts. Can it support vehicles as well or is it meant mostly as a battle between footsoldiers?
It will mainly be infantry battle except for a ghost which can maneuver around very smoothly. After some testing i may decide whether or not to add more vehicles
I think the ghost is a good idea from the way the map seems to be laid out itll play more like a power weapon but never be to powerful. Theres plenty of areas to take cover from the ghost or avoid becoming a stain on the drivers visor. I've always wanted to take the time and design something like this for invasion, but I always seem to have alot going on so I really enjoy it when I see maps like this created and the creativity it looks to have taken from you. If you need some help testing feel free to ask or send me a friend request over live GT: SilentRaine id be interested in playing it .
;3 WASN'T ME Anywho, berb, I love the way this map looks. You've always had great, if not that, the best forerunner appearing invasion maps. Maybe you should upload new pictures, considering you, and a few others agree it does not present the map as it is in forge. On to gameplay. I still am not quite sure what is happening here. It was built before spawns were planned, so spawn positions and weapon positions may be difficult. The one time we tried first phase, spawns seemed to be pretty okay, but upon closer examination, fireteams did not have much of a role. For say, basically all of the fireteams have a much too common objective: and that would be getting to Alpha and Bravo. There doesn't seem to be much of a neutral ground between one another, and Bravo (I think) is secluded on top of a hill. Elites have much the same goal as the spartans- and that's to do just the opposite. They have what seems to be more neutral ground, but still doesn't feel like a sort of milestone between spawn and objective and objective-objective. I hope this helps your invasion map out a bit. Some things I feel cannot be fixed, e.g. the objective mountain thing that is natrually built between the map. You may have to rely on building a sort of structure there whether it be forerunner or terraformed.
