Is it just me, or is 343 Industries allot more liberal with its kill volumes?

If you compare the maps designed by Bungie with those by 343I, 343I is very restrictive in where a player can go, and cool off times (from entering soft kill areas) are much longer. opinions?

Well, I found spots that where soft killed patched by Bungie are unpatched, so I think so.

Sword base, that high ledge people would camp on, you can jetpack up there and be killzone free.

Think that was only fixed for infection, since most other gametypes you'll have a jet pack to use instead of just the single gravlift and not be killed by one or two shots on the way up.

a good example (albeit, it is only important when one looks for a good forging spot) is Tempest, there really is no need for the embedded kill volumes around the structures, as forgeable kill volumes would have been sufficient, should one want to make a map around the structures, one would only need to remove said kill volumes. Since the kill volumes cannot be removes, we are limited to the upper tower portion (which is still fairly hard to create a map around) and on the ground (where the surfaces are very uneven).

the cool off times speak for themselves there was approx a 1:1 ratio in the cool off time, if you left the out-of-bounds area with 3 seconds left, it would take approx 7 seconds to return to the original 10 second warning, in the newer maps, that ratio as been extended to about 1:2

    Tempest is a Bungie map.

The first map pack, Noble, was by Bungie, but the next two, Defiant and Anniversary, were by 343. Tempest was in the Noble map pack, so it was indeed made by Bungie.

    Actually, not.

This has nothing to do with new maps. Also, do you have any proof?

and in anycase, regradless of the publisher, is it really necessary for embedded kill volumes within the map? (as opposed to only using them to keep players within the map boundaries).

That I've never really comprehended. Maybe the developers have reasons they have never explained, but I'd prefer maps to be as unlimited as possible, with kill volumes added as forge objects so they only affect custom games, and can be removed if you want.

I haven't noticed a change, if there has been one. Either way I don't care. If anything a longer cool-off time is probably appropriate, because it prevents people from exploiting what are supposed to be non-playable areas too badly. You can really take advantage of things like flying above Countdown and Asylum in certain places - things like that should be discouraged as much as possible in matchmaking, even if they don't immediately kill you (which I think is way too severe).

They are just patching it up. I though have not seen a difference in cool off times.

They put an an area out of Ridgeline on purpose. Or they would not have had another kill zone behind it. They also would have patched it.

Maybe they just want to befriend the gamers that look for loopholes in maps so they can have more allys? This is just speculation.
