    COMPRESSION V1

    DESCRIPTION

Compression is a symmetrical map built mainly for slayer. The weapons used and their spawn times are MLG, hence the label on the topic. I put this map under competitive because I didn't feel it was actually MLG material; the weapons and spawn times just inclined me to point out that this slayer map works best when played on MLG settings. Many of the railings throughout the map are crouch-jump friendly. A couple aesthetic doors are thrown around so that the map isn't completely bland.

    WEAPONS

    - Sniper x2
    - Rockets x1
    - Custom Powerup x1 (Again, MLG settings preferred.)
    - Magnum x2
    - Plasma Pistol x2
    - Frag Grenade x4
    - Plasma Grenade x4
    - DMR x8
    - Needle Rifle x4

    SCREENSHOTS

Teams spawn directly outside of the aesthetic doors on green side. (Blue team spawn:)

Image captures most of mid-gold. (Gold being directly across from green.)

Front view of green, shows Custom Powerup placement.

View of blue side facing into gold, shows healthpack placement.

Gold-side of blue looking out at gold bridge and blue windows.

Front view of gold bridge, shows Rocket Launcher placement.

Gold-side of red looking out onto top red.

Red spawn (behind would be the aesthetic doorway as seen on blue side), shows placement of the Sniper on red bridge.

    First upload here, but enjoy!

This is quite impressive for a first post. Very solid looking map with a forging style that reminds me of some of the maps in Throwdown. You have a DL from me.

Looking good. No obvious flaws. Will have to take a look at this when I get back home.

The MLG section has merged with the competitive section, if you didn't know.

Will try to get some games on this. And aren't you Res05 over at the MLG forums?

Oh LOL I didn't know, like I said, first uploaded map here so I don't really know the lay of the land. And nope, I'm not. Don't even have an MLG forum account I believe.

@ Panic45, Thanks! I made sure to poke around featured maps before posting one of my own to see what pleases you guys here at FH. So that's why it has a similar style to the Throwdown maps.

I like the map, but i would make a few changes.
First, i would extend the platform/flooring where the cpu is on and the spot under the bridge on the other side of the map. This will give you more room to maneuver and it won't feel like you're on a roller coaster. I would also consider raising the height of the ramps by 1 coordinate on the side under the bridge so you actually have to walk up to the ramp to see over it.

I threw something together just to give you an idea so it may be a little sloppy.

EDIT: Also, try to remove any steep ramps. I noticed a lot of them, and although i didn't see any FR drops, i suspect it's there. You can use Ramp XLs or Ramp bridges to actually cover more area with the same texture without the lights. The angle is either 26 or 27 on those.

Thanks for the feedback, and I actually like that idea a lot. For the most part on that section, I wasn't focusing on the game play aspect but more so on just extending the main ramp and making it look nice. I personally don't enjoy the whole roller coaster feel either.

I'll look into raising the ramps, I need to make sure I can still jump with no problems under there, but one coordinate should probably be no big concern.

I'll try to do so with the ones I can, (I usually just use steep ramps because they're easy to rotate on 45 degree snap anyway. /lazy) and when I use them I try (halfheartedly) to hide the lights. But again with a little time that's an easy fix.

    Thanks again for the feedback.

Alright, so I took a look at this in forge yesterday. Now, I think most of the railings are pretty much just in the way. I find it annoying how you have to jump over them when you're going downwards, and I imagine it could cause a fair amount of fuzz in game.
Also, removing them saves up some budget and pretty much ensures you won't get screenlag, I think.

I Think the layout in general is very good, but it would probably not suffer from being a bit deeper and having some slightly more separated areas to allow for good spawning and some more movement options. I also feel like it's a bit small, but I don't really know.

Anyhow, it's at least a decent map, and I think both the map and you as a forger have some good potential. It's really a great start. Looking forward to future projects.
