Yeah, I have the problem: I played a TU game and completely forgot about melee bleedthrough so I neglected it, but I definitely want it in the game. If all of the TU changes aside from bleedthrough were just removed because 343 felt like being sadistic, I would be perfectly happy. I personally think no-melee bleedthrough was one of the worst changes to what was a great concept in the previous Halo games (next on the list: bloom addition, then the overpowering of the Banshee). The no-bleedthrough system is so awkward and slow plus it rewards people for the wrong reasons. You generally end up with clunky, awkward pauses in CQC fights because a double melee is needed to account for 1/50 of shields. The system also rewards "3 shots + double melee" equally as "get shot 3 times + double melee".
Didn't think I would have to explain this in a TU thread with the video opening with "Glitch I found in the Title update" But it's TU Beta playlist only and probably customs that use the TU gametypes (so it doesn't effect invasion) Shoot them 4 times then melee them....There is rarely a time when you can't.
Like I previously said, it also happens in custom games without the TU settings (so no bleedthrough), but the circumstances need to be very specific for it to happen, so it's nothing to be worries about. Here's a post of Chris101b who tested it:
It only happens if there's bleedthrough (TU Beta playlist) or if shields are turned off and some other settings are changed (only in customs). So no, it doesn't happen in any other playlists.
Holy ****. You guys better not start with arguing over Bleedthrough again. Onto the issue at hand, I've actually never recalled this happening to me... Maybe because I never go for healthpacks, I'm a ****ing man.
Lol I didn't know the kill times and I decided to learn from experience I felt so weak like I was dieing from one shot and one melee so I thought I was weak because my health was always slightly damaged so I camped health packs but I was still felt weak so I thought if I'm weak with health packs imagine how weak I would be without health packs Long story short I was camping health packs because I felt weak and they where the things making me weak, Kinda like a drug
Halo Waypoint | The Official Halo Waypoint Blog I am not too happy about this. Bungie basically said this same thing a while ago, and DLC almost never comes up in standard playlists right now. Some playlists like Squad Slayer (which is basically a redundancy of Team Slayer) and Invasion should require DLC.
I actually like this a lot. It allows me to be able to play invasion with a full team without the need to have all of my friends to buy the map pack. The idea is that if you and your party have the DLC, the DLC voting options will appear. This announcement says that you will get matched up with DLC players more often, therefore meaning more chances at playing DLC maps. I'll have to wait and see, but for the time being, it sounds great. Now on to more notable tidbits: I heard rumors about these custom challenges, but if anyone can find the exact details of them, (Since it's past midnight and I shouldn't be awake as it is) I will love them for many years. ****. Yes. Even if it is 85% bloom, this is exactly what Reach needed. Hopefully MLG and Arena will take up ZB options, because I honestly do like the 85% settings. They're more controllable while still having the desired effect. Not perfect, but much better. Not to mention all of the other beneficial changes to help eliminate BS from games. Aaaand that's one location for ZB action! This just keeps getting better. And that just fixed the issue that ZB slayer had. I think I'm going to cry tears of evanescent joy. While terrible custom maps are still in MM, this is a very good thing. It's also great to see the new CEA maps distributed basically everywhere. I can't wait to see if doubles implemented the new maps. So now the pistol is fixed to not be so OP, aside from the CEA pistol. Schweet. Color me pumped. I don't know about anyone else, but this might be the start of the revitalization of Reach before H4.
Challenges Halo Official Site Probably have to be signed in but it shows the weekly/daily challenges then underneath you can create your own challenges.
Veni. Every single one of those changes makes me happy. Agreed about 85% bloom feeling really good even if it isn't perfect, it's damn near close. TU giving a dedicated place for ZB makes me incredibly happy, cause it still retains playlists I love like Squad in their more default form. The Pistol going back to 5 shot is wonderful, as is the removal of the Pistol secondary in ZB (which came close to ruining that gametype). Seriously 343, have my babies. I'm genuinely sad that H4 is coming out next winter, cause honestly I'd love to have this game as the newest Halo title for at least another two years. Ah well, enjoy it while it lasts I guess. And nice link, William. Thanks for that.
.wat I haven't touched matchmaking since mid october (actually I played two games of CEA since then), so I'm actually excited to go back and see what's new. I'm getting tired of fps games and whatnot, but have they added any new playlists, what did I miss?
Bleedthrough in Team Objective and Squad Slayer? Yuck. Premium Battle removed? Yuck. This is my problem with bleedthrough and they act like it's not a big deal. For a year now we've played the game knowing that a shield-pop means that the person is one headshot/melee away from dying. Now, this all gets thrown out of the window even in regular Reach playlists. You can say you can vaguely guess when you're one-shot by looking at how much shield you've got left but it's not nearly as clear as it is with the old Reach system. Keep that **** in the Anniversary playlists, please. Adding the new settings to regular playlists also makes finding out what settings you're playing even more confusing than it was previously. Do I have a 3-shot pistol (Bloom is ****ed up on it, by the way)? Do I have a 5-shot pistol with 85% bloom? Do I have a 5-shot pistol with 0% bloom? Do I have a 5-shot pistol with 100% bloom? Even I don't know what I'm playing and I'm someone who actively follows what 343i has said about Reach. I can't imagine how hard it is for casual people who don't post on Halo forums to figure out what they're playing. Either just change all playlist to have the new settings (minus bleedthrough of course) or just keep them in the Anniversary playlists. It's becoming such a mess. Premium Battle was probably my favorite playlist. I had good objective gametypes on good DLC maps. They said the weighting on DLC maps in regular playlists has been increased, but I very much doubt I will run into them often. Now there's no place for someone to just play on all the DLC maps without having to play shitty Reach maps in between. Can we just play Halo 4 already?
Totally seconded on the mess. They are trying too hard to make Reach all things to all people, and consequently it's becoming confusing and unapproachable even for people who already liked it and played it constantly. They should have grown some balls and just said "This (be it 85% bloom or whatever) is clearly better than the on-disc version of Reach, so we're patching everything across the board - live with it." I get the notion of having the 3-shot pistol in Anniversary playlists only, but the title update and 100/85/0 bloom and bleedthrough, etc. - that hasn't worked out well at all, in my opinion. It's not appropriate to use your community as a massive beta test for weeks/months before you commit to a larger change. And if they're planning to leave things basically as they are, it surely won't help Reach's population problem any. I already find myself sticking to one or two playlists I'm comfortable in, because trying to guess and adjust to the changing game parameters in all the others is a nuisance. And when we play customs, we're constantly pogoing between gametypes with varying degrees of bloom plus all the other "background" settings that exist that you usually don't give much thought to (flag juggling on or off, AA cooldown period off spawn, etc.) Remember when your main choice in matchmaking was MLG or default Halo settings? Seems so long ago... such a simpler time.
OK, I'm playing Squad right now and realised something I should have read in the update: TU settings doe NOT mean 85% bloom. I'd forgotten how much I hate 100%, looks like I'm still staying away from my beloved Squad for now then. Nutduster, I agree. They should just remove 100% bloom from the game entirely. They said themselves that it's the "sweet spot," so why are they only using it in Anniversary? I don't agree about it being a mess though. Having 85% and bleed through across the whole game would be an improvement imo, and that'd mean the changes left between playlists would be somewhat more logical. TU would be the Zero Bloom playlist, Anni for a chance for getting Anni gametypes and playing the new maps, and everything else just 'vanilla' but with the TU changes.
I already play nothing but squad most days. Squad with 85% bloom and no more sword block*? Yes please. * I ****ing hate sword block. I don't even use the sword that often but when I do, I seem to get blocked like 1/4 of the time. One game on Countdown I rounded a corner and found two guys who had just spawned or weren't moving for some reason, and I charged them. The first guy melee-blocked me and the second guy charged in front of him. Then the second guy melee-blocked me and I threw my controller down in frustration as they ARed me to death. Please tell me who thought it would be awesome to make exactly one weapon in the game vulnerable to doing absolutely nothing sometimes when you pull the trigger.
