Yeah, I didn't feel like doing the WHOLE ****ING SITE NAME again, and it being 2 miles long. That took forever.
My roommate and I have been working on a super awesome castle/village for like two months now, purteh schweet so far. Spoiler North port side: Broken dock, going to connect to our village eventually. courtyard and church My dungeon entrance, super cool redstone wiring contraption stuff to get in. The outer wall continues through the mountainside Castle entrance the castle, unfortunately we're really close to the height limit, so it's really short. observatory entrance: observatory: observatory's telescope: South Gate: ship and lighthouse crane on the dock removing stuff from the ship village outside of south gate: vendor marketplace Our village is going to wrap all the way around our castle walls, which I believe is a 1024 block square. I'll take screenshots of other areas next time im on.
Holy cobblestone Batman! That's friggin sweet. That needs to be given/stolen to/by Mining Bros and used as the new spawn location in the next world.
Next time my roommate's computer is logged on i'll steal the world file so you guys can check it out, it's much more impressive in person.
If Cobble is used well, it can look good. That's untexturepacked too. I mean, my house was really nice on the last world. And it had Cobble details.
I was sucked into Minecraft a couple weeks into college. I don't do much building, that's my roomie's territory. I do a lot of redstone though, heh.
I'll be getting on MC soon to see what's been changed/ whats new, etc. I've had a couple people tell me that if I didn't like it before, I probably still won't enjoy it. BUT, they also said that that could be due largely to the fact that I don't/haven't played it with other people. If that's true, what server should I get involved with and does multiplayer really make the game shine?
Join whichever one you think would best fit you. Forgehub supposedly has two "official servers." One's Miningbros and the other is the Ghosts of Onyx.. i think. Miningbros doesn't have a permanent world yet as bukkit isn't updated yet. I'm not sure about GoO Multiplayer changes the gameplay quite a bit. On some servers you can buy resources, which makes the gameplay less redundant. You can show off your builds and make stuff that you know other people can enjoy as well. You can fight other people, chat with others, etc. etc. It's very fun in my opinion mainly because I like talking/sharing creations, laughs, ideas, tips, and other random stuff The downside: you can get griefers, sometimes the servers are down, and gameplay is a bit more laggy.
You won't get griefers on Miningbros at least once bukkit gets implemented. Dr. Pres and staff don't put up with that ****. (you might get griefed by Dr. Pres, but that's a different story.)
The only server running Minecraft 1.0 would be my server, Miningbros but it is also the server with the less features at the moment with Bukkit being broken. Nothing wrong with vanilla 1.0, just don't expect greif protection or the ability to buy anything. Ghosts of Onyx is a good server that I sometimes visit every once in awhile. There is a lot of old users of Forge Hub on there, and veterans of GoO of course. They have the same level of greif protection Miningbros offer so that's pretty nice. If you want the full effect of playing Multiplayer with people then GoO is pretty nice since they still have all the mods/plugins running. But, do know that the only reason it is running is because they are still running Minecraft 1.7.3 (Unless they upgraded to 1.8, finally.) So for the question of the best server to play on for Minecraft 1.0; I would say neither. Miningbros doesn't have any of the mods/plugins that makes playing on Multiplayer better at the moment so you could take that server out for the count. GoO is good except they are still running an old version of Minecraft (Last time I checked) so yeah...
Pres' griefing is more creeping IMO, innocently mining, then turning around and there being mushrooms or STACKS UPON STACKS of feathers. The occasional diamond block appearing where you just excavated coal, etc.
Or the random storm of lightning striking you full in the face, even when you're 20-30 blocks underground. Or a sudden army of creepers spawning around you or...
Or when Brotaoski sends wolves after you, or when he spawns giant zombies, or when he turns the floor of your buildings into lava, or when he turns you from creative into survival mode and decides to hunt you, or when he turns you into survival mode whilst 100 blocks in the air, etc. You learn to accept it
That's the main reason I haven't bothered with Mining Bros. Whenever I'm building, there are times when I would rather not be disturbed like that. Seems fine if it's between friends but for others like myself, it doesn't sound very inviting. That's just me though. I haven't been able to play Minecraft since 1.6 because this computer really sucks. I hope Notch won't abandon all of these features for other new ones. The new terrain generation code seems interesting but buggy. I really dislike the NPC villages, or at least at this moment and am glad that they're optional. I am a little disappointed that their released product has a lot of features missing from what that they said was going to be in the game. It's really unfortunate that Notch and Co. comes up with these cool ideas but does not implement them. (i.e Underwater content, CTF, etc.)
GoO is still 1.7.3, but in the words of Devinish, update will be "Soon" Of course that could be anywhere from next month to next year but..
Pres doesn't grief. He trolls while you are mining, and half of it isn't really trolling, he just likes to scare you, and put more fun into the game by testing his mods. Brotaoski griefs. =/ But if you lose your items, they are always more than refunded.* *Only if it is because of Bro killed you.
