    Celeste

So, after a long, un-wanted break from xbox and Halo:Reach, I have returned with a new 1v1 map I will call, Celeste.

It's still in its beta stages, and I'm looking for testers. Feel free to leave your GT and I will try to send you an invite for a game on it. Or, you can download it off my fileshare and play it with a friend.

    Enjoy!

I liked this when I saw it, looked like you had a good idea going. Not a fan of the symmetry, though...

As far as aesthetics go it looks great! looks like you put a lot of planning into it. I love the doors in the first pic on the left hand side. Some more pictures would be nice though, get a better idea of how the map connects kinda thing

The aesthetics on this map look great. I especially love what you did with the teleporters in bottom mid. If you need someone else to test feel free to invite me (GT:X2Sora), and before I forget welcome back!

Like Erupt said, I'm not a big fan of it being symmetrical. The map looks beautiful though, and I'm sure you'll get to stomp my ass in some 1v1s soon. I look forward to playing.

It's only a map preview, so I didn't feel it was necessary to post more pictures of the map. I don't want to give ALL of it away. Give it a download and check it out for yourself if you really want to know. ;)

No, no. I won't stomp you. You're pro now, remember? :p

As for the map layout, I was going for flow rather than a complex assymetrical map layout. I wanted a simple map with a simple layout that flowed beautifully. I prefer assymetrical maps, but flow was my main focus.

I probably won't be on for at least another month. You know my GT. Send an invite next time I get online and we can get a game on this. It'll probably be released already by the time I come online, so it'd probably be a "just for fun" game.

I'm not a big fan of the the door pieces in general, but you've made them look not so out of place. Some of the things that aren't quite lined up seem really out of place with all the other aesthetic stuff you put in. I can't be much use for testing since it would be a very lopsided game without a teammate to carry me, but I'll gladly tear it apart to find every little detail you missed if we're both online sometime. I think you're already on my friends list.

Maybe after we play a game on Oversight I could test this out. It seems pretty neatly forged, but i would like to see this with more detail. There have been many 1v1s and 2v2s, so do something that makes this map pop.

    Onslaught -1

Do you question the gate keeper?

Normally I would be against symmetrical 1v1 maps, but this fast paced map encourages constant clockwise movement, and every position on the map is balanced due to the beautiful teleporter placement. Great job Eightball.

Wait, the aesthetics don't go well together, or some forge pieces don't line up properly?

I think you know by now that I put a great deal of aesthetic appeal into my maps. I'm going to let the originality and flow speak for the map rather than the aesthetic appeal.

Yes, I do have an xbox now. We will definitely get a game on it soon. And yes, let's finish up Thane.

    LOL, Onslaught.

I dare not question the gate keeper.

This looks great, but I agree that perfect symmetry in such a small map makes me think the game play will get a little dry; it might end up being used more for a warmup map. I love the teleporters in the water but I don't like the fact that the perch they lead up to is only accessible from that one route. I'd add a lift or ramp or even a jump spot at the other end of the ledge where the stickies spawn, or else players may spend more time up there waiting for the grenade launcher rather than moving around the map. While the map has some nice details, it is quite drab in terms of colors. Since the frame rate appears fine, I'd add a few more colorful details where possible. Despite my criticisms, I think it looks good so far and I look forward to seeing the outcome.

What is the point of adding a lift at the end where the plasma nades are if someone standing on that ledge can easily see you going up it? That doesn't make much sense. The point of having that ledge is to give you the height advantage over your opponent. It's extremely open and there's not much power to it when the nade launchers and custom are at the bottom of the map. You would have to leave the saftey of your height advantage to grab the grenade launcher then run all the way to the middle of the map just to get back up. You contradicted what you said basically. If I drop down from the ledge and grab the nade launcher, couldn't I easily just go into the lift at the end of the ledge and get up even earier and faster?

Also, this map has a simple layout, but that doesn't make it a warm-up map.

I really, really disagree with the statment about the map lacking color. But as I've told others, I will base this map more off of flow rather than aesthetic appeal.

If anyone else complains about the map lacking color, then I'll consider adding more to it.

I didn't mean to come off harshly, I was just tossing some ideas around. In general it's not the best idea to have a ledge accessible from just one teleporter, but your rationale makes a lot of sense.

Oh no, I know. I'm not being defensive, or rude in any way. I like having mutual discussions with others on map flow, ask Flamingo.

In this case, it is a good idea to have one way up to that area, because it's not a power position. Sure, it has an advantage but it's too small to become a problem.

Thanks, though. I appreciate the thought put into giving me some feedback.

Have you gotten any games on it?
