The natural terrain doesn't look that much better, and you can still leave the map on PoA. WINNNNNNNNNNNNN.

I'm working on Halo right now, as I don't have much time, but the sniper ****ing wrecks, and looks sick.

yea the updated graphics are a bit jerky. Particularly with shadows.

Aside from the nostalgia (oneshot hunters again!!!) I'm really digging the new weapon sounds. The pistol sounds like god snapping his fingers and the sniper actualy sounds like a .50cal riffle.

They must have tried changing the way they did lip animations so the lips move forward of the teeth before they start talking now or some ****.

Looks really messed up when the lips move but the jaw doesn't.

Anyway, does anyone feel like going through and getting the skulls with me? I'm having real trouble with grenade jumping as in I cannot do it.

Remember they're running 2 engines at the same time. So I'm assuming the facial features runs on the old engines and body movements comes primarily from the Reach engine.

    So is anyone else curious...
...as to who Guilty Spark was referring to in the last terminal when he said "Of course, HE would have to be there as well. But I'm quite sure the reclaimers would much prefer the Flood."
    Sounds like one-bad-mutha to me.

Ain't got that far yet. Only up to assault on the control room.

Damn exams and my need to study for them getting in the way of serious gaming time.

Me and my GF beasted through campaign the past two days
Except she has no patience for the storyline. She's all about the guns, blood and action >.>

Anyway, I'm hoping this is some subtle reference to the main enemy of Halo 4.
Something more threatening than the Flood is an interesting thought to think on.

    EDIT:
I found this googling around and it was also seen in that same Terminal.
HaloWiki says it is the symbolic representation of the Didact.
I'm not up on all of my canon, but evidently HE is the leader of the Forerunner Military.
    Interesting...

I'm feeling kind of let down by Anniversary campaign, actually. It's definitely nostalgia-inducing, but there's so many weird little things about it:

    - The "current gen," "Reach-like" graphic re-skin is neither current gen or Reach-like in effect. It really looks like it was done on the cheap. I thought the videos that came out before the game looked pretty promising, but in game I feel like I'm playing a budget title. Only switching back and forth reminds me how much better it looks than the original. When I tired of campaign and put in Reach to check out the new multiplayer maps, the graphic difference was enormous - 343's new multiplayer maps look stunning compared to Anniversary.

    - The old animations are so clunky. It makes me want to go back to the original game for reference since admittedly, it's been many years since I played it. But it's weird how removed from the action I feel. Covenant and human troop animations are awkward and involve a little too much teleporting from one place to another, and half the time that I melee I hit things that I feel were way out of range. It's a strange experience. This alone is enough to make me wish that they'd tinkered with the core engine a little bit - at least smooth some of these animations over. The cut scenes are similarly stiff and awkward.

    - The levels feel weird and mechanical to me now after a decade of subsequent Halo games. I was surprised how much I noticed it and how it pulled me out of the action. For instance on the Halo level, you go meet some troops on that big structure and then try to defend it and them against several dropships. This was one of my favorite bits in the original campaign when I first played it, but yesterday it felt kind of silly to me. Ship lands on one side, you kill everybody; ship lands on the opposite side, repeat; so on until the waves of enemies are dead. And they actually underline it with dialogue like "Oh no, there's a ship on the other side! They're trying to flank us!" I had the same feeling at the beginning of Truth & Reconciliation, when Cortana warns me that "A grunt is heading for that stationary gun! Take him out before he gets there!" And then a waypoint appears over his head. In later Halo campaigns, if a stationary gun is sitting empty, covenant just, y'know, get in it and use it. The newer single players feel so much more organic compared to this.

I hate to say it, but I think I've outgrown this experience. I'll finish playing it and that will probably be the end of the nostalgia. On the plus side, the new maps look dreamy.

They didn't say it'd be perfect... They said they just wanted a better look for the original experience. A coat of paint can only do so much. I do still love the huge levels and the feel like I can explore, even if theres really no where to go. It still feels like the first in the series, and I like that. I regard to old resident evil games as the best, but when I go play them again, i know its going to be full of horrible dialog, animations and very shitty controls. Just part of the original experience.

That being said, the sniper rifle has never been so satisfying to use. I can only dream of finally getting my hands back on the shotgun (With the teal green sights!!). I'll go through with you eventually Texan, I'm just going through on my own first. I don't get a lot of time to myself anymore.

This whole release is pretty nifty for what it is, and I'm reallllly excited to see how Halo 4 turns out, both campaign-wise and multiplayer-wise.

I would say Gravemind honestly. Unless it is referencing some unknown force we have yet to meet. Or in the newest book, I haven't read that one yet.

I tried to play Halo CE over the summer and when I started I just wanted to stop because it was, quite honestly, pretty boring. I hope these graphics and whatnot will help the experience feel a bit newer, which it probably will. That being said, I just had a sudden urge to play Halo 2's campaign.

Boring you say? You should be banned from Forgehub, lol.

The graphics don't make the experience any different, they just make it suitable for a 360 title. And it's pretty fun to switch back and forth to see just how bland the graphics were back then.

I'd suggest waiting to play H2 til after you beat CEA.

That's what I plan on doing if I manage to find enough free time to do it. Also, I just got CEA 20 minutes ago (it's thursday lol) and I'm downloading the map pack.

Edit: The map pack was cool, nothing too impressive. Same goes for CEA, however the opening is very epic. Overall, CEA is slightly better than what I expected mainly because of the sound effects. Shooting and reloading the needler is an ear orgasm

lol yea so what I cheated, but to be honest, some of these are damn hard to spot and others are hidden in places you wouldn't even think to look.

The Terminals on the other hand seem to be placed right in front of you as you go through the story.

As for the reference in the final terminal, 343 did say that the terminals were going to contain hints about Halo 4.

Yeah, 343 did a great job with terminals I think. They're much more interesting and visually appealing than H3's if I recall correctly (I only looked at one or two terminals in h3)

H3 were all text files and they went by too fast for slow readers. These ones are videos.

So if the enemy is Forerunner (a supposedly extinct species) that would mean that either a) The Forerunner aren't extinct or b) The Chief went back in time.

Is the latter less likely? Probably.

    Is it badass sounding? Definitely.
