Ever since our xbox got the RROD, i've been basically entirely switching to PC games... But after playing Shogun 2 and TF2, I'm really missing good ol' Halo 3 xbox live type gameplay. I'm in the search for a good PC game that plays at least somewhat similarly to Halo. I've been on the verge of buying CoD or BF3, but the thing i don't like about such games is how their playing style is compared to Halo. basically, I enjoy the way players can take plenty of damage before dying... it's a different type of strategy.. Thoughts? i was thinking cryis 2... Also, hey guys <3 its been a while
newer is better, graphics kinda go with it. for the most part, i want something with a good multiplayer experience. i kinda forgot to mention that
The Tribes games are supposedly pretty good. And Halo was accused of copying them, so I would say they are pretty similar. However, if you want a great MP game, get BF3.
And UT3. I play a lot of old games, but I could care less about graphics. Maybe try....Halo PC. That's a real halo styled game for PC.
The original Quake is the ****. Definitely get that one. Also, you can get all of the old Marathon games (Bungie's predecessor to Halo) and the new, user created ones. It's all open source now. The Wiki Page for Marathon The Open Source Project Bear in mind that Marathon, Marathon: Durandal and Marathon Infinity are the ones created by Bungie. Red, Evil and Rubicon (which is the best IMO) are user created.
World needs moar marathon players. I was about to suggest this but he wanted decent graphics. It's my favorite game, but the campaigns are all just a giant puzzle, good stuff.
Agreed. If he wants decent graphics though, there are many, many high def. texture packs on the Aleph One site. The one for Rubicon is by far the best. It's absolutely phenomenal. My laptop can't even handle it. But yes, the campaign's are classic Bungie. In depth, fantastic characters with crazy personalities etc. I never beat Red nor Evil, they were just too damned hard.lol.
awesome, thanks guys. I found Tribes: Ascend and that's in beta phase now.... it said free to play but the way the pre-order looks, it doesnt seem like it is? As for marathon, those are a bit aged! but i'll try out the texture packs you suggested tantric. Tribes is really interesting to me though.... anyone know much about Ascend?
Skyrim. But it maybe not your taste but I still recommend it. If there is any other game, it has to be a GTA game. I would go with San Andreas or IV. Crysis 2 is like a different flavor of COD which mostly focuses more on abilities rather than weapons. BF3 over COD, definitely. I would also go with Halo 2 and im pretty sure you can get a pretty good texture pack as well.
