You really got to give it up to these guys for thinking outside the box. The concept of an HD texture pack is not unheard of. I believe most Pc games works like that when you install them on your computer but doing that for Xbox is just ingenious and sounds like we may see this used more and more. The game for sure looks like **** without it and it looks comparable to the PC alternative minus 1/2 the speed. Im resisting the urge to go to my mom and pop shop and pick it up a day early but ill just wait for my day 1 Amazon.com delivery... they better not **** with my BF3 order.

EDIT: Woop just played for a few hours. The game is amazing. I'm a little tired right now but I will talk about it more later.

I bought the game at midnight release. I dropped my bro off at the train station and arrived at gamestop after midnight, and I didn't even have to wait in the line and get a number. I just walked in, showed my preorder receipt, and paid and left. There was a good sized crowd in front of the store and one of my friends was there.

Anyway I got back home only to find that the modem was ****ed up and the door to the room where it is located was locked, so I couldn't play any multiplayer earlier. I did the first single player mission and part of the second mission, but I gave up at some point in frustration. It's just not my cup of tea and I hate the loading screen when you die. Right now I'm installing the multiplayer disc to my hard drive and then I'll jump into some multiplayer.

...That guy made me want to shoot myself. >.<

Anyways, I worked at my store midnight release so I didn't get home till like 1:30 in the morning, but I then preceded to play Battlefield 3 till 6 in the morning. Mostly unintentional but every time I thought about putting down the game, I kept on getting something more cool, and I wanted to try out all the maps.

So far the game is ****ing amazing I think. Some friends and I got a squad together and we just went at it. All I played was conquest and I think all the maps; not exactly sure, but Battlefield 3 turned out to be everything I hoped for. The jets is pretty ****ing cool and I only found it useful in dogfights in the sky. (Until you unlock the missiles, etc) The helicopter I found to be pretty ****ing hard to fly, (Not the same controls as Bad Company 2) But, it isn't to hard to change the controls.

There is so many things I want to talk about, but I have no idea where to begin. Server Browser is pretty boss, and now the ability to choose what squad you want to be in is pretty cool so you can join in a squad later or with your friends.

All in all, Battlefield 3 multi-player is amazing.

i've been playing for a few hours but i'm haven't been enjoying it as well as i would like to because i haven't gotten to play in a squad with friends. hopefully they'll fix the squad thing soon as it's a pain the way it is now to get into a squad and in the same game on the same team.

    Holy ****. More server-side issues?

Not amused. But I'll keep trying because it's so damn fun.

I have played only a couple games and probably will not be able to play until tomorrow. So far, I have struggled to get much done with the crappy snipers that you start out with and havent accomplished my #1 goal of flying a jet. They look really cool and give the game another added sense of real warfare.

Can someone offer an opinion on how fun/difficult it is to fly those things so I kinda know what to expect?

They're tricky, you need a good sense of feel with them, which I believe takes some time to do. People are crazy good with them already though, so it's easy to see who played previous games in the series.

    I applied.

I got into a jet once so far and I didn't even take off. I just drove straight into a hill and exploded.

I got in one game. It was the base jump level, but I joined after the initial base jump. I picked the sniper class, and started taking heads. Then once we got past the first objective, I realized if you're too far away it can take three or four bullets to the chest/neck area even with a sniper rifle.

    . wat

Even with the aggravating loss of bullet velocity and damage, I still want to play the game online, dammit.

I was playing the single player mission comrades last night, and the art direction for the parking garage and inside the main building reminded me very much of mirror's edge (especially when inside the cubicle areas).

    The graphics are absolutely amazing.

Also, 870 MCS with 12G slugs, Kobra RDS and extended clip is pretty killer.

I played about 5 games with my friend yesterday after I picked it up. Even though I did pretty awful (I only went positive one game), it was ****ing fun. Don't know if I'd want to play online by myself, but that's with any game really. I unlocked the laser sight on the RPK and that made it so much better. So if you're being put off by the crappy starting guns, wait just a little and you'll unlock attachments. I unlocked one in five crappy games so I'm expecting it to not take too long to unlock stuff.

    Also, MK11 rapes face.

Played some games yesterday with a full squad. Had a ton of fun working together going for objectives. Played a great game of Rush on Noshahr Canals where at one point we were all on a rooftop and then had to drop down to go for the next set of objectives. Had a lot of fun and success in an Abrams on Operation Firestorm and Caspian Border.

Not that k/d matters in a battlefield game or anything, but mine is pretty bad because of all the screwing around and "practice" with the jets. I have only gotten one kill with a jet, but now I have heat seekers at last. I went into a game with a squad and I ended up on the enemy team, and so I ended up blowing up my friend in a tank with my Frogfoot's gun. I really wish there were some kind of piloting tutorial in this game. Damn, so much trial and error in the jet.

Within a month there should be tons of expert jet pilots who are actually a threat.

I added everyone who added Forgehub platoon. Yeah the jets for sure are hardcore once you unlock the missles its gets pretty nasty. Flares are a must but i cant wait for heat seaking missles. Anyways Heli are very interesting they work like every other helicopter controls out there except for one thing. When you angle forward it keeps the angle when u release it. so you lean forward and return your thumbstick to neutral you stay the same angle so if you turn you have to hold it directly to your right/left or else you will crash down because you start angling forward even more. otherwise a good helicopter pilot can pretty much hold down the entire area. with the exception of the stray RPG/JET. overall idont get to fly jets to much but noobs seem scared of the Heli so practice practice practice.
