Achromatic Forge Hub Favorites XXIV Finals Nominee Notice: Due to a lack of space on my file share the non-FX version of Achromatic has been removed to make room for other files. The Purple FX can simply be removed from the version that is left to result in the old one that was removed. I apoligize for the inconvenience. Achromatic [VFX] Video thanks to MyForgings and DuelWeildingGamers My Forgings: Halo: Reach: Achromatic - YouTube Achromatic - YouTube A Grey Project This map is my one of my two successful asymmetric maps, and I strongly believe that it is because I actually just stumbled upon this design. I began this map due to wanting to be able to have maps to play on with small groups and the actual forging at about midnight, so my mind wasn't really all there. Not only was I considering how this one platform would work into the map, but what it would be like if Unicorns rode flying waffles and battles knights. It was a fun time, anyway as I forged on I realized to myself that forge is grey. It just is and that's a fact, luckily with water, grass, and certain lighted objects we are able to mask this from the players at times. But I thought to myself "I should do the opposite here." So this map, Achromatic, became my embracing of the greys. Originally (even now by the earlier testers) it was called Greybox after it's greyness and residence in the Skybox. As time went on I tested a lot, possible more for this map than any other because there were so many twists and turns and weird spots that could become bad places to have. After many revisions I ended up with this. However as of recently I looked at the map and thought to myself "this looks a lot like other maps." and so I looked at the FX and found the purple one didnt look too bad here. Upon my surprise it worked and I tested many games with it on. Some said they thought it made the map better, others just dont like FX, which I understand- hence whey there are two versions of this map now. In the end both versions are exactly the same and both are fun. After numerous tests I can confidently say this map is finished. The Other Geminus Maps This map is part of a series (Geminus series), links to the maps are below. Strange Cave | Achromatic | Final Elegy Weapons 2 Needle Rifles (2 clip) 6 DMRs (1 clip) 2 Plasma Rifles 2 Spikers (0 clip) 1 Sniper Rifle (0 clip) 1 Shotgun (0clip) 1 Grenade Launcher (2 spare) Images Special thanks to all of my testers and the TG, without all of your help this map would still be amazingly campable. I would write all of your names down, but there have been so many of you I cant remember all of your names. I apologize for this but know that I am very grateful to you all for your time. I hope you all have fun with Achromatic, enjoy! Achromatic [VFX]
This came out very nicely, a lot cleaner than the TG version! It looks like from the pictures you focussed more on objective, something most 2 v. 2 maps tend to ignore. I'm very glad to see the ramp up to the top floor! Great job!
Lol, look at me with that oddball. I loved the way this map was laid out, I had a lot of fun on it, my only complaint was lack of health packs, but it was my own blindness's fault lol. great map.
Thanks for that TG write up way back then Shoe, it helped me quite a bit and I utilized many of your suggestions as you see. Actually the map isnt objective oriented, I have it set up for many other types of game but its really best for slayer. However Oddball (FFA) was surprisingly fun during that test. Im glad you like the look of the map and had fun on it when it was still Greybox! Glad you had fun, and I agree with you on the health pack thing, though it is hard to notice them when your shooting at people unless you know where they are. I looked to maybe add another pack or two, but I never really felt like I found any good spots. I think the two existing ones work well though. Thanks for the comments guys, I really appreciate the help you both did for me and I hope you enjoy the final version!
Nah man, I just didn't realize that there was a healthy pack bottom blue. Once I saw it, I was fine though so it's not a big deal. Good map, keep em comin.
No problem, no problem. Thank YOU for building such a fun map. Definitely going to download this for future customs. One love, man.
I tended to be the biggest hater of grey Maps and because of that mostly forge on non-Forge World Maps(Powerhouse, Highlands, Breakpoint) however this, somehow looks all cool. I'm downloading straight away.
^ You wont regret it. very well forged map, a lot of fun to play on, multiple functions, I usually dont like the effects but it seemed to work on this map.
Had the privilege of testing this right before you released it, and it was an enjoyable experience. I would say 2v2 slayer was my favorite game-type for this map. This map has good height changes, and no one area is too overpowered, overall I enjoyed my games on this map. Also, normally FX tend to bother me, but this map seemed to pull it off. Great Job.
I understand your dislike for the absolute greyness of Forgeworld, and I am happy to hear this has peaked your interest. Let me know how your game goes! Thanks for those final tests Moth, it was really helpful. Im glad you had fun- I agree, 2v2 slayer is great here (in my opinion) thanks to all the different paths and ways to go up and down. I really took a lot of time trying to make sure no one area was overpowered. Thanks again for the help to all my testers!
enjoy! Little bit of bad news though, the rendering bugged out on me, and the video has gone a little bit dodgy in a few places. Shouldn't be too noticable. Anyway, enjoy!
Thanks Oli! I really didnt expect you to use all the gametypes either, that was a nice touch, and the editing is quite nice. I appreciate your time! Now if I could just get Forgehub to stop fighting me and embed this on the front page...
Hey bro, I just wanted to say congratz on getting this into My Forgings on youtube, you should embed a link to the video on this thread!
I was actually just about to do that. Thanks for reminding me. Tyler does a good job explaining maps and showing their traits. Im very thankful to have his video, along with Oli's action-oriented one.
