Bloodlines By Paranoia UK Introdution Bloodlines is a map I have been working on for five months. I have been away from Forge and Xbox in general for some time now. Unfortunately it is likely to be a while until I am back so I have decided to release this map now. Having spoken to some friends online they have convinced me to finish the map and release it to the community today. The map is inspired from Narrows but only in appearance. Having already completed a scaled remake of Narrows I wanted to make a new map but with ideas that I thought of when forging the remake. I am going to keep the text to a minumum for this post as I really dont have time to compose a long write up like I have with my other maps. I hope that you can get all the information you need from the pictures but I am free to answer any questions you may have about the map. Thanks for checking out the thread and I hope you enjoy the map. Screenshots Weapons and Objectives The weapon set up on Bloodlines is a very basic one. I wanted to keep the gameplay focused on skill and accuracy and the map loadout reflects this. 4 x DMR 2 x Needle Rifle 2 x Magnum 2 x Sniper Rifle 2 x Concussion Rifle 2 x Plasma Pistol 4 x Plasma Repeater 4 x Plasma Grenade Gametypes FFA Team Slayer Assault Capture the flag Juggernaut King of the hill Oddball
Fantastic! You're use of the curved bridges and man cannons are incredible. I'm making a map similar to this, where it's centered around a river. I'll be sure to give it a DL!
I would give the map one more direct access route, like a downward bridge in the center. Most of the fighting happens either across middle or on the perimeter of the map. This would balance the fighting and give players more movement options.
I agree with zamples, though I would make it a sightly obscure path. Maybe have the entrances be two or three points on each side, both off to the right, then make the path like an S shape below? Its just a thought but the point is I think there needs to be more than two man cannons and bridges. Maybe a space under the bridges similar to that of Narrows?
Well, I think this looks pretty sick, but I do agree with the bridges and mancannans. Though, the bridges do seem wide enough that they may not even seem like bridges. I just downloaded it it, (I was the first by the way) cough cough. So I am definitly gonna check it out with a closer look.
wait, you're just releasing this?.. i remember watching you forge on this months ago. this looks great, but i liked it when the bridges were double bridges,, with the rooms through them.. o well it probably affected gameplay.
Thanks for the comments guys. as far as the bridges go they actually used to be two, double levelled, bridges like the one on narrows. Sadly there was too much frame rate drop when looking down the map and the underneath part of the bridges had to be removed.
Hey Paranoia, I just got to download and take quick walkthrough of your map. I have to say this is another really cool map you've made here, the only real problem I ever saw in here was the Z-fighting over in Blue base. You might wanna take look at that. But beside that tiny flaw, this is still a great map that reminds me of good'ol Narrows. I hope to get an official game going on this soon, you have a good one.
I'm definitely NOT DL this map. Way too open, no cover, gameplay doesn't work well, and too long sight lines. Another thing. Did you even place guns? It shows Zero in you pics.
Whoa, calm down. Way too open, no cover, and long sight lines correlate to each other, so you just said the same thing three times. "Gameplay doesn't work well". That statement is so broad and you have no reasoning of why. A map doesn't need weapons to be a map. Paranoia already knows the main issue of the map is the movement option (which you didn't even state), but frame rate is reduced too severely for him to keep a central bridge. I'll wait until your map pack is out, so I can criticize your maps as harshly as you did to Paranoia.
This map looks stranglely almost accurate in RFN. Reach Forge Network - PSA 12 - Contest - YouTube But on a note on the map, maybe add more cover? I like how smooth your bridge looks though.
LOL! Ive been forging since the days when we were all building beach forts on last resort. do you really think id forget to put weapons on the map? The map is open, but not way too open. the angle of the bridge acts as cover. The columns combine to add nice cover and the sights lines are fine because of this. how can you comment on gameplay anyway. you've already said your are not dowloading the map but then you talk about gameplay.
Ok so i was working on an idea like this awhile ago and encountered the same problems. That map is really open, which is necessarily bad, but a thing that alot of long range players want is cover. Cover is a vital aspect in a map without it your basically playing on a flat surface looking at your opponent. Try addind something to distinguish the sides and allow for more cover but leave the bridges open as the add some interesting gameplay.
*cough* douche *cough* I think this map looks great. Can't wait to play it in customs this Saturday! +1 DL
I think the map does lack in design, but so do 97% of all competitive maps on this site. Aesthetics aren't always a key factor in competitive maps. I really like the two bridges, they are really smooth, but I think you were a little repetitive with the brace, large columns, but it may just be me. I might consider DL-ing to take a closer look. Otherwise not bad.
Hello, this is an interesting forge. I like the simple structures and how they break lines of sight, also I have never thought of using windows as railings, the look good and provide cover and holes to shoot through. A shame you were having framerate problems in previous versions in such a simple design.
I'm going to go ahead and agree with zamples here, the map is very well forged, it's just missing one or two alternative routes, other than that though, good forge, dont worry about all the worthless comments, seriously people, if you know your post isnt going to help, just dont post it
Okay, after checking this out, I stand corrected. The bridges are wide enough that they almost seem like they arent bridges. I havent plated it due to the amount of forging I had been doing, but feel free to invite me to any customs you have on it. I really like it now that I looked at it. Of course it is simple, but in order to have solid gameplay without the wonderful framerate problem, its almost neccassary to keep it simple.
