Definitely going to build a base with a lava-fall over the door so you have to drink a fire resistance potion to enter it.
I like the baby animals thing, I don't like, however, the way you get them. Using wheat on animals... I mean, c'mon... >.>
I guess it adds an actual use to wheat instead of just getting bread. Its like the way people reacted to wearing a pumpkin to become unseeable by an enderman. People thought it was stupid but when The Ender Realm arrives, pumpkins will become way more precious.
Ender Realm? I take it that's what kids are calling the Sky Realm these days. I remember the simple days of Alpha. Where we built stuff, and raged at creepers and did nothing else.
The ender realm is the new dimension being added soon. It will include new blocks and ender dragons. Endermen will be native and spawn a lot. Also, the crystal things found in strongholds can be repaired using an ender eye and it will create a portal to the Ender. Minecraft Forum - News, Forums, Mods, and Texture Packs
Here's the thing, endermen are fiction, whatever may repel them may be as off the wall as it wants to be, because it's fiction. Cows, and pigs and sheep, on the other hand, are non-fiction. They exist in real life, and are not bred using wheat. I mean, I'm not suggesting they place animals having sex within the game, that would be awkward, I'm just saying, that wheat? Really?
The entire Minecraft world or "Minecraftia" as some people call it could be a whole other planet where animals are similar to but not completely identical to our animals. What do you expect in a game such as Minecraft? The ability to make animals breed by giving one sheep a porn mag and letting it roam free to have sex parties? That said however, it could be better to have set breeding days where animals will attack each other (alpha male insticts) and occasionally make baby animals. But wheat has no direct fuction at all. Like some other things such as bones and string. They may be able to make things when crafted but have no abilities themselves. I mean it might not be the best example since such things have no purpose in real life but maybe bone armour?
I'm not trying to gang up on you, but I'mma give you the simple answer. Minecraft needed a way to initiate breeding or they'd go wild and make tons of babies. Looking at all the other items in the game, wheat is the best item for right now.
IMO, minecraft needs more simple functionality, i.e. dynamic components (pistons and redstone for example) that can be used in complexity to create other things. That's why I prefer mods like betterthanwolves or redpower to, say, mo' creatures, or the official piston update to the animal breeding update. On a less serious note
Mods that add way more items but barely any function would directly oppose that. While parts of the technic pack like redpower, btwolves and buildcraft are simpler and functional, those are the only things about the technic pack I like. The rest is just mods like millenaire and sdk guns which don't really add functionality.
