Grenades are fine, there are just too many of them. Starting with two grenades should only happen in BTB.
8v8 on Countdown. Never forget. I'd rather have Halo 2 without cheats, better graphics and better netcode.
Lol I never, ever will. AFAIC, Reach is Halo 2 with better netcode, better graphics and no cheats, as well as a single shot rather than burst weapon (also a plus imo). The only things lacking in comparison to H2 are good maps; of the few decent disc maps we have with Reach only one (Zealot) is even in MLG which really disappoints me, though I do love it hardcore. Also H2 had a much better movement speed and strafe responsiveness. 120% speed on Reach would be nice if it didn't feel like you were walking through treacle with the movement acceleration.
Since this is all a matter of opinion about something imaginary, most of these arguments are meaningless. And pointless. To me, the more powerful grenades makes more sense. There are a lot of players that just chuck two at the same time to get a kill, but I DO use them the way you describe. A lot of players do. its just the "grenadiers" that stand out cause they are annoying.
Wow I haven't even really played Reach since the TU. If this is the case than I need to put GoW aside and turn over to Reach! I loved Halo 2.
Lol did you even read my post? Those are the two ways in which it isn't like H2, true, and they're very important. But IMO it has a better netcode and a better utility weapon, so I'd still say its a toss up.
I know you said that, but Skisma thought Reach would be similar to Halo 2 which it's not. He shouldn't get his hopes up that's all.
Lol I'm not gonna get my hopes up. I know it's not gonna be like a replica of H2. I'm just interested to try it out cause it'll be closer to the classic Halo feel.
Well for that Halo (2) feel you shouldn't go into matchmaking. Zero bloom is awesome, but not with the settings currently in Matchmaking.
Oh right then yeah, 100% agreed. There was the same thing on the MLG forums; people went in expecting to fall back in love like they were with H2, very unlikely tbh. I soooooo wish that 343 had managed to increase movement acceleration or just remove it entirely in these gametypes, that would truly be the icing on the cake.
I'm pretty sure that's impossible. Maybe not, but it sounds like it would take some serious programming to change that.
Am I literally the only one who thought reach was fine the way it was? Bloom helped distinguish between the noobs and the pros, what's wrong with that? Reach seemed more tactical than halo 3 which I liked. What was/is people's problem with it?
I dunno exactly how the engine works, but in the most basic sense I can't think that it'd be more complex than removing bloom. I'm pretty sure modders were able to remove the movement acceleration back when they first produced no bloom demos. Bloom was inconsistent, thus the best approach is to hang on the edge of exploiting it and sometimes get screwed over, rather than play it safe and shoot the way it 'should' encourage you to shoot which saw you getting out spammed more often than not. I, and many others, also disliked how it extended kill times, especially when combined with new additions like Sprint and Armor Lock in particular. It resulted in a lot of redundant encounters, and often enough people who made awful decisions or positioning moves weren't punished in the slightest because of how long it could take to kill them. The fact that kill times could vary between making a kill or the person getting away in the exact same scenario played out twice is a good way of demonstrating what I mean. Ideally, I'd like to see a form of bloom which is entirely consistent in its effect (ie. bullets always fall towards the outside of the reticle at any given bloom position, thus you should adhere 100% to the visual relationship between reticle size and target size or you will never score the hit) and allows for slightly faster kill times overall. I agree that it, in principle, adds a skill gap, and honestly this is one that benefitted me overall, I just wish it could have been implemented better. If asked to choose between bloom as we have it and no bloom, I'll take no bloom all the way.
What I don't like about Reach: -Sluggish movement -Armor Abilities -Bloom -Bad maps mixed with ugly Forge maps -Bad gametypes all over (Stockpile, Neutral Flag, 3-flag, Flag Slayer, Headhunter, Hot Potato etc.)
For anyone who is interested in some No Bloom objective gametypes as well, check out Killa KCs fileshare. He's got all the MLG v6 gametypes with the ZB mod up there. With some tweaking to the settings which MLG change, this means you can have ZB CTF and KotH gametypes as well as Slayer.
