I keep forgetting about Skyrim because of Battlefield, and then I remember that Skyrim is the beginning of the end. Can't ****ing wait until Nov. 10th, then I'm a battlemage until next autumn.

Don't you mean November 11th? Or are you one of the lucky pricks who is getting it early?

If you are, go jump in a hole full of human waste and choke to death.

But make sure you sign over your copy of Skyrim to me in your will, first. :p

Am I the only one who finds it really odd (and nice) that it's being released on a friday?

Yes! I'm pretty sure it's even the exact music - no alterations, kind of lazy but Morrowind had a great soundtrack still, so I don't mind.

I'm getting it Thursday night at the midnight release, and I have Friday off ((Read: Remembrance Day) Canada) so aside from the 2 hour service at 11am, I'm set for Skyrim for 70 hours in the weekend.

    Saturday (24)
    Sunday (24) +

Including the 2 hours of regular weekend fapping, you aren't sleeping this weekend sir.

    *tips hat

EDIT: I doubt my comp will handle it well, but I'll sure as hell try.

Faps are on hold that weekend, my nuts will be empty from Skyrim anyway.

Those 2 hours are for the Remembrance Day service Friday Morning

Don't mean to be a picky asshole, but technically, it's the next day as soon as the clock strikes midnight. :p

I may have mentioned this before, but I'm still pretty worried about how the level-scaling and the design of the world itself will impact my exploration. I've heard once or twice that the mountain paths are pretty linear, and I still can't tell just how much area there is to wander around on this map; the scale is difficult to discern.
    Other than that, can't wait.

Anyone else want to enact the "No fast travelling rule" with me? I swear, it ruined oblivion for me. I did a replaythrough of that recently without fast travel, and the game was extended by like 30 hours, all of it dedicated to enjoying the world.

apparently the map size is about the same as oblivion, and i think there will be a lot more interestingly varied area to explore, so im not too worried.

I will as long as fall damage is decreased in Skyrim from Oblivion. Or the way you walk downhill is tweaked. If you had decent speed in Oblivion you would just ramp off of any downward slope and lose like half your health unless you magically pulled back onto the ground, which greatly increased the time it took to get down the hill.

I only fast travel on quests I have had to walk back and forth several times for on the same path. After two times it gets frustrating if nothing different is happening. I do not understand why anyone would fast travel to a city they had not been to though.

I tend to like to explore games when I play them. The developer put so much time and effort into making the game world, it would be a shame to miss all the dedication they put into it.

Although, if I am doing a mission and the objective takes me along a path that I've traveled along several times, I will likely end up fast traveling. But I know there's random event things in Skyrim, so I may not end up using FT at all.

Everyone's gonna break down and do it. I mean, how many times were you willing to travel between cities just for the autistic fighters guild? Fast traveling is nice, just like how alcohol is nice. You can never have too much of a good thing.

It would seem your logic is flawed, sir.

It really doesn't take THAT long to get from place to place on horseback, so if you are willing to go deep enough into the role-playing aspect of Skyrim (or just want to enjoy the scenery, which I'm sure will be beautiful), eliminating fast travel isn't such a big deal.

    Edited by merge:

All those three hour previews that I have been reading online are getting me ultra stoked. It's comforting to know that I had payed it off in full months ago and that I can't just waltz in and walk out with what will be my favorite game ever.
