So, after 4 weeks of fierce competition (umm... kind of, anyway), Cosmic Rick's Teamwerks Tournament has come to a close. The season was plagued with scheduling difficulties and collaboration issues. As far as we can tell, the closest thing to an official game happened in round 2 where 3 Roosters and a Cat beat The Buttered Bisquits by bringing in a ringer. However, after 3 tiers of no-shows and forfeits, it all came down to the Teamwerks Championship, which took place Tuesday night. The competitors: Cosmic Rick's "Team A.E.S.F." and TXGhost's "Pain Train". Here's what happened: Round 1: The first round started off in Pain Train's favor, with the blue team leading off by several points. After some initial problems with Team AESF's BR-man were dealt with (Insane had some late-join and lag issues), AESF quickly picked it up, beating Pain Train 48 to 29. Insane54's eagle eyes guiding Team AESF (red) to victory and Team Pain Train (blue, dead) to... well... pain. Round 2: Round two is perhaps most accurately described with the term "furious". Not because of anything Furious did... just because it was complete mayhem. Team AESF came through the whirlwind of plasma-blasts, sticky grenades, and man-cannoned bodies with a 66 to 19 win. Please notice which team's shields are down... Round 3: The picture below describes the general tone of Team A.E.S.F.'s highest scoring round for team Pain Train. Cosmic Rick managed to bring himself into top-scoring position this round with 2 grenade sticks, one of which shattered TXGhost's spine. Despite Furious D 18 and TXGhost's valiant shield-draining efforts, A.E.S.F. pulled out the win: 77 to 32 TXGhost's broken body after an early-game grenade from Cosmic Rick. This is how grudges are born. So, that's it, then. Team A.E.S.F. won the first ever Teamwerks championship 191 to 80. Don't get me wrong. Pain Train put up a good fight. I was completely surprised when I saw the final score, though that's likely due to the fact that I had the most deaths on team A.E.S.F. Team AESF decided to pose a little bit for the winning score-board screenshot. Do I feel bad about winning my own tournament? Sure, a little bit. But when it comes down to it, I had a great team. We worked together well, we knew the arena, and nobody practiced as much as we did (no, I'm not talking about the game... We talkin' 'bout practice!). If anybody would like to challenge the team in the future, we're always up for a game... Just be ready for what's coming. Prizes Each member of my team will be getting $10 sent to them via email. Wins!<< Teamwerks. Sport of Kings. This arena is where men are made. Blah blah blah. Anyway, Cosmic Rick is throwing a little Teamwerks Arena Tournament starting next week (May 26th). If you don't know what that is, there's a rundown for you HERE. Sign ups are now open to all members of Forge hub. There will be prizes. Nothing spectacular because Cosmic has to pay for college on a lab-rat's salary. $10 per person on the winning team. Additionally, winners will go down in history (this thread/the map thread) as the kings of the noob. Here are the rules: 1. Team and free-agent signups have ended. 2. It is preferred that all new entries (past May 21st at 5:00 pm EST) consist only of forge hub members. 3. All games will be held on this map and gametype unless otherwise instructed by Cosmic Rick. 4. Each round of the tourny will take place over the course of a week. The first round will begin on Monday, May 26th. It will be up to the teams to arrange a time to play and to report the game results back to Cosmic Rick or LIGHTSOUT225. Please do this by linking us to the game results. 5. No obvious exploits of the map. I know of at least one. If there are substantiated reports of foul play, the offending team will be DQ-ed. Since Cosmic is giving out the prizes, he gets to determine what this means. Play like respectable people, eh? 6. Ties go to an immediate rematch (not a likely scenario, but possible). 7. In the event of one team not showing up, the team that did show up wins. If one team is short by one person, then both teams must play with 3 players. If a team is short 2 people, they forfeit the game. 8. Oh yes, Cosmic Rick will be playing... with an elite team of death-dealing noob-combo masters and lucky-grenade-chuckers. 9. Everyone must switch to the spartan armor variant. No SWAT-Elite no-headshot shenanigans here. If somebody's playing with an elite variant, the game must be ended and restarted until everybody has it right. If it happens more than twice, the team with mr. elite forfeits. Hey i need a team to join, anyone wanna let me in?? I've played this teamwerks map about 3 times and i'm pretty confident that i'm good at it.
It's clear that Team Wonder Winsauce will be the victors in this tournament. Simply because we have the Winsauce on our side. Pssh, AESF? What the crap is that? Team Pez dispenser? That's all I have to say about that. And when has a Bisquit or Gravy ever defeated Winsauce? Never my friends, never.
I'm not sure what's going on with Dom's team. I've heard about 50 people say they're filling his last slot. Have him post something to determine what the real team is.
