Hello everyone. I would like to start a little discussion here, I dont know if it was posted before or not, so sorry in advance. Dont you think it would be really cool if we could forge on Unearthed or on Glacier? It would be really awesome if we could do multiplayer matchmaking maps on Firefight maps, or just to edit firefight maps. Because i think that editing firefight game options is really useless if we cannot edit the map for it. So do you think it is possible in the future that we can use maps from Firefight in Forge?
You can't Forge on FireFight maps because the AI isn't suited for it. Path-finding would be easily screwed up.
But you can delete like path-finding and elite spawns, and just make multiplayer map on for example Unearthed ;]
I would do some really nice maps on Unearthed. Or maybe if glacier would be cleaned out of "****" like boxes and crates, you can do really nice invasion map on it.
makes no sense. you're acting as if there wouldnt be a forge piece placed ever. forgeworld would suck for multiplayer if it had no forge pieces in it.... your comment is stupid.
Forge World is more of an empty canvas than any of the FF maps are. Adding some Forge pieces won't turn them into good multiplayer maps.
you have to add some forge pieces to make something fun. you have to design the level. since WHEN does the template have to play good in multiplayer before you can forge in it? you make no sense and you know it! haha!
Infection... i was thinking same. It would look cool as something like mining complex . But I think that Overlook might be cool for slayer or something like Capture the Flag. Is there a chance that 343 will make such thing? So we can edit firefight maps to matchmaking?
Bungie themselves couldn't even add killzones to FF maps so we won't be able to edit them ourselves. At least not in Reach.
Some of the Firefight maps could be made into decent multiplayer spaces. Unearthed is an obvious candidate - there's lots of flat ground to build, and the whole thing as is actually wouldn't be too bad as an asymmetric multiplayer map, if it were tweaked just a bit. I could also see making something out of Waterfront though it offers less room to build, and same with Outpost perhaps. With most of the others, I don't really see it. Corvette and Courtyard are too confined and structured to work as multiplayer spaces (except maybe very small ones), and more natural maps like Avalanche, Holdout, and Overlook are too rugged and choppy to build on very effectively. I could see some genius forging making one or two worthwhile maps out of each of them, but if there were an explosion of forging on them I bet most of the resulting maps would be terrible.
I second that 'What?' You're basically saying that a canvas like countdown is not suited for multiplayer without anything added (not counting weapons) A canvas like beachhead doesnt need any structures added to be a full map. Its your post that doesn't make any sence. And most firefight maps are focused around one power point.. Beachhead you sit on the balcony Corvette on the little side platforms Outpost, top center building The one based on winter contingency, the roofs whilest bottlenecking the bridge/ rivier Thus most fire fight maps would play the same in MM and would basically suck. And most fire fight maps have a matchmaking equal already (one of bungies biggest mistakes).
you can design a map over any template, firefight map or not, if only they were accessible. A map made using a firefight map as the template can be just as good as a map made in forgeworld with forgeworld as the template.
The impression I got from Jeremiah back in the Optimatch days was that to make the Firefight maps compatible with the Multiplayer engine, they'd need to be rebuilt from the ground up. It's my understanding that putting Firefight and Multiplayer data in a single map will either make it incompatible with the parts of the game responsible for map loading; or simply make the map far too large to process. If 343 releases a "Firefight To Multiplayer DLC", then maybe, but why spend the time? The benefit will be minimal in the long run, because no matter how many palettes and templates we're given, people are going to whine about them all being "bland".
Countdown is a very enclosed level. there is no space to forge your own bases or whatever. If you could forge on one of the more open FF maps, you could make something just like you could in forgeworld. overdose said that it would be impossible to play multiplayer in a fire fight map. if you could forge on the map though, like the OP said, you could make a sweet map with a firefight template landscape. how do you not know what i am saying. i can tell you over a mic, and i can show you if you're still confused.
It's not impossible. But even with a very complex forging mode, the game would still have glitches and it wouldn't be fun to play on it AND it would be horribly laggy over live. [br][/br]Edited by merge: Avalanche?
