http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showpost.php?p=31150232&postcount=9073 And it seems like the Games on Demand en the Halo Reach preview disc versions aren't updated yet, so we'll probably have to wait for that too.
^Pretty much. We're apparently getting some sort of test gametype before then, but who knows when that'll happen.
Yeah already played it and it made me realize how much I hate bleedthrough. Reach's system is far from perfect, but it does give you a clear image of when you can one-shot someone and when you can't. It's so much more consistent than bleedthrough is.
I do agree with that overdoziz. That was one thing that was always consistant, I dont like melee bleedthrough either
You guys are absolutely silly. I personally am glad that when someone runs up to me to try for a beatdown, all the bullets I put into their bodies aren't nullified when I punch them. Melee bleedthrough is AMAZING. It's how it was in every halo game prior to Reach, and now it's restored to its former glory. Silly, silly people.
Bleedthrough as it worked in early Halo 3 is what drove me away from the game. Changing the simple and effective system in Reach is a step in the wrong direction.
Agreed. @Overdoziz, bleed through is not inconsistent. It's just harder to judge, which I like. Melee is an inherently easy form of damage, so requiring more split second skill in judgement terms helps bring some more finesse to it. Chrono, I know we discussed this before, but I still disagree about as strongly as I can. CQC without bleed through in Reach is the worst it's ever been in Halo. Also, an MLG Gametype I put together if anyone is interested. Changed speed to 120% on the advice of Tak and am pretty sold on it after having played some games with these settings, also upping melee back to 100% to give a 3 shot + melee kill as suggested by Spaceneil. Playing this tonight has been a lot of fun, gotta say.
Sorry, Peg, but the Halo 3 era I'm referring to was by far the worst. That new-game smell may have taken the edge off, but when the melee system was able to dictate how firefights unfolded to such an overwhelming degree, you knew something was wrong. Depending on how powerful the melee actually is, bleedthrough will only favor those who fire first.
Trust me, I had no new game smell with Halo 3. I'd skipped 2 almost entirely cause I loved CE so much, I had to really force myself in to giving 3 a chance. I agree that prepatch 3 was bad (though I still think no bleed is worse) but if anything this is like post patch H3 because both players can die so it isn't just connection deciding CQC.
Am I the only person who's concerned that zero bloom might change the metagame re: the Needle Rifle? I kind of liked the way the NR was balanced for bloom, in that it's more spam friendly but not as effective at long range and does less damage. Maybe I'm alone here, but I wonder if in zero bloom games the NR won't have a place anymore, and that's a shame because I love that gun. Also the bloomless magnum is just disgusting at close range but I'm not complaining about that
Any idea if they're going to release other gametypes? Zero bloom: Infection, CTF, Hill, Skull, Speedpile, head hunter, etc?
This is all we get for now. Once the beta hopper goes live we're gonna get a whole host of 4v4 85% bloom gametypes, Slayer and some objective as well. This will be the only zero bloom gametype we have until the CEA playlists come out, though, unless they choose to release some zero bloom objective gametypes by fileshare before then.
I'm not talking about bleedthrough when you're meleeing someone, but when you're shooting someone. It's nigh impossible to judge when you can one-shot someone and when not. I think it's fine for melee, but just annoying for shooting.
