I don't recommend planting vines... they turn your life into a monotonous chore of clearing poopy-***** work.
pretty sure its shears, yeah. And yeah, climbing them would be cool, but probably not a good idea seeing how many are in the swamp biome. You wouldn't be able to walk under many of the trees if that was the case.
oh yeah, I forgot you have to be able to walk under them. Maybe that would add something though. If you're in the jungle IRL you can't just walk through through the vines, you have to cut them away.
you can brush them aside and walk through them though, you don't always have to go rambo on them with a machete or something
ok so I've been working on my adventure map a lot and I think i have most of the story worked out, just have to build the rest of the mine scene, write the in-game notes, and redo the final scene. About a week or two's worth of work. Then I'll need some beta testers. Anyone wanna help?

So that story I posted a while back. I just did that again, except it ended about halfway due to a 1x1 random hole leading to a massive lava pool. Normally I'm more aware, but I was concerned about the enderman I was staring down, trying to get closer to it. So yeah, lost 4 diamonds and so much lapis that I might as well just sit here and cry about it.
Have you ever been mining down in a new section of tunnel that you just found with a rather large amount of valuables on your person only to have a skeleton snipe you off a ledge into a vast underground lava ocean? I literally felt sick to my stomach and had to log off for a few days. Also, my cavern is now mostly 12 high and it already looks massive! But sadly I got bored because no one else is on our server all off playing Gears or school or some other bullshit that matters not at all.
Does anyone know of a survival server that doesn't have any mods? But has creeper explosions off and teamkilling off?
Mine goes from bedrock all the way to 5 blocks below the sea floor. (Its probably around 46 or so) Of course I applaud you for being determined enough to do it all by hand, I am not patient enough to do that, I am just building by hand, digging that area out is far too much work.
I actually did try to get Dev to just delete the unneeded bits, but he said no. So in affect I have no choice. Sure I could build it in single player but what would be the point? If I did that all anyone would see of it is pictures.
