In Halo 3, good maps got attention alot faster because of their rarity.
In Reach, anyone can make a decent map, and most maps posted are just that, decent.
Its the really good ones that get the majority of replies or even a sticky.

Its like playing the slot machines, need to get lucky with one map out of ten.

Also, people who base their judgment on things like "i dont know this person" and "the thumbnail didnt look great" are lame.
You get like 5-7 new maps per day? considering most of you spent enough time on this forum its only a small thing to actually look at all the new maps.
You don't have to download them and look at them in forge, you can get a good insight just from a decent amount of pictures.

So I am lame? Did you know that those posts that do not have any thumbnail almost never have any pics at all? So how is it that looking for features in a thumbnail is lame, pray tell?

Dude, there are so MANY maps and so MANY less than decent maps, that I don't spend my time looking at every one of them - - I LEARNED NOT TO WASTE MY TIME! The thumbnail is the first line of advertising. If they don't do that right, they are just flat out of luck!

The person who can't do a decent map or a decent thumbnail would be the one to call lame in this discussion.

It takes one click to open the thread in another tab, it takes another click to look at the tab, it takes a second to scroll through the first few pictures and it takes another click to close the tab.

Most forums don't even use a thumbnail, attitudes like that just prove that other guy right.

Right, but you aren't telling the whole story. It takes 50 tabs to open 50 posts. I don't have time for that BS! If the thumbnail ain't good, then they need to learn to advertise better.

I am not saying you are wrong - in many ways I agree. But then ask yourself why are you hear, and remember, no one is forcing you to remain here.

If you went off and started your own forum like FH and were wildly successful, and you had 18 year-olds helping you run the forum, I guarantee you that your forum would have the exact same kinds of complaints. It comes with maturity - or the lack thereof.

I can cite specific examples, but it is too early in the morning to get myself banned from a forum. ;P

On average, it takes 12 seconds to scroll through a map thread, to check if you're interested in the content. 12x50 = 600s. 600s/60 = 10min

90% of what people here do is looking at maps, if you have enough time to write a proper argument and an opposing counter argument, you have time to look through 50 map threads.

I have read all of these posts and agree with many of them. The one I especoally agree with is that there are about 20 people that get like 30 comments on every map they make. I also realize that I should spend less time whining my ass off and more time trying to improve my map making skills. Thank guys

I would hope so. I learned my lesson, so it should be. This thread should also be locked/deleted since the discussion is pretty much over.
