So my forging for a while now has been mainly focused on making 1v1 maps. And, along with the Iridescence Map Pack, I have two other 1v1's in production. Creed - Schism
These look intriguing. I especially like the look of Schism. It looks like some big height differentiation for a 1v1. Will we see more screenshots as time goes on?
Both Creed and Schism give off this Halo:CE'ish vibe. They both really intrugue me, which is a suprise because I'm usaully never a fan of 1v1 maps. I hope to see some more of these maps soon.
You continue to amaze me, Ace. Creed was really fun to play when I got a game on it. One of my favorites from you. I recognize the center plat in Schism as well. I think I get some credit... maybe... a little... I think it's the result of one of your all day forge marathons as well, making it 10x more impressive. Keep it up, I home to get games on these soon.
As always, your maps look sexy as hell. Having been a fan of your maps since Halo 3, I'm certainly looking forward to seeing these released. Feel free to invite me for some games if you ever need to get some tests on it.
Looks very nice, I'd be willing to help out with one if you'd like to do something together. Also, I'd love to test so invite me.
:O I havent seen Creed, but i did the the begining of Schism. I crapped my pants when i saw it. If we're ever both on i would love to see or play them. What is this Iridescence map pack you speak of? edit: sneaky rho appeared
Quake quake quake quake quake quake quake quake quake Anyways, these look good. I remember liking creed when you showed my before.
I am simply blown away, Schism looks the best of the two IMO, but the other one looks rather nice as well. Every time I see one of your maps I think "Why didn't I think of that!" Where on Forgeworld did you create Schism, it seems like the lighting matches the map perfectly. Two damn fine maps from you Ace.
*cough *cough *cough *cough *cough ...[sub]Love you meta[/sub] Something screams original Anyways, I think Ace's maps name are, while perhaps irrelevant to the maps, catchy and memorable. I think that's the goal really. They aren't names you see everyday, and that makes them stick.
None of those other maps deserved to be called summit, and one of them was crystal summit observatory, that's like, at least six words. Summit means the highest point of a mountain, none of those other maps deserved to use that name. Anyways, I think Ace's maps name are, while perhaps irrelevant to the maps, not catchy and usually hard to say. I think that's the goal really. They aren't names you see everyday, and that makes them hard to remember and harder to remind you of the names of the maps.
I disagree. I think the uncommon-ness of them makes the memorable. Oh, that's not a map name you see often, I remember that one, while as something like mlg execute is so common that it doesn't stick with me. Also, Ace's maps tend to make themselves memorable, which adds to the effectiveness of the names.
The way the center plat is used on Schism is very common. Quit asking for credit, it sounds pathetic.
/Taken seriously. I know it's been done. I've seen it done. I was just there when he threw the pieces down, so I made a sarcastic comment about it. :/
Rho, I strongly disagree. When I see names like Cadecus and Cipher, I have no idea what map it was. Names like Avalanche, or Countdown theres a reference to an aspect of the map, but when a map is named Cipher which is an algorithm for performing encryption or decryption I have absolutely no idea what im going into, and since I'm not good with names, I'm going to forget what the map is called in about...uh, what maps are we talking about again?
I'd agree with Meta, to an extent. I think Creed is fine, it's catchy, although it has little to do with the map, it's still not giving me false impressions. That's why I liked Cipher as well, because there were no false impressions. But Schism gives a totally false impression. I'm imagining a big pit, or a cave, or something that has to do with a schism, yet there's nothing schismy about the that map, Ace.
'Schism' means division or split in more abstract than literal terms. Are you thinking of 'chasm'? EDIT: Seeing as the other map is called Creed, is there some kind of religious undertone to the map names, Ace?
I don't hear Schism used in the abstract sense too often, so I usually relate it pretty directly to chasm, but I still understand the "split" aspect of it. Which Ace's map does not have.
