I see a ton of beautiful and functional forge maps. But are you a one trick pony? Can you not only build great race maps, but brilliant slayer and infection maps too?

My suggestion is to see who's the ultimate forger. Submit 4 different gametypes custom or not with 4 different maps. No rules but no mods. Forge maps must be playable gametypes and not Aesthetic only maps.

Maps don't need to be new, just your best.

    What do you think?

Basically kind of like a map pack, right? You submit 4 of your maps all together, except they are of different gametypes. I could see this happening. I'd call it the Map pack contest. There would be one rule, though: they have to be different gametypes. (I'd consider it a rule)

good idea, but judging would take a long time, and the maps themselves might not be original. A good contest backs forgers into a tiny box, just to see who can break outside of it. If you don't get that analogy, Then what i'm trying to say is that contests should promote a unique way of doing things. The $5000 budget contest, and the ongoing coliseum wall contests are great examples. Perhaps limiting each "map pack" to a certain theme would result in a better contest.

I agree that judging would take a very long time if not organized properly. Maybe if we came up with some sort of point system, select specific gametypes to build off of, then have 4 judge groups that prefer to judge their preferred gametype. Set the play time per map to 15-30 minutes, agree on an overall score and move on.

Easier said then done, but doable.

Small budget, piece limiting contests are great for keeping things reasonable especially from a judges stand point. I'm sure there is a compromise here somewhere.
