I challenge Forge Hubbers to try to not conform to the usual vibrancy of map making, and construct a map only of coliseum wall. I gave myself this challenge a few weeks ago, and the result, while flawed in certain aspects, pushes the boundaries of what is possible with grey. Now after all I am not a great forger like many on this site, so I will never be able to create the best wall coliseum only map ever, and so I ask you: What Can You Do With Grey? Rules: :: The only structural item to be used is the COLISEUM WALL. :: Map must be forged on Forge World. :: Co-forges ARE allowed. :: A co-forge counts as your submission, and you cannot co-forge with another submission. :: Custom Gametypes CAN be used. :: Natural terrain (including Coliseum) IS allowed - read encouraged - to be used. :: Vehicles CAN be incorporated into the map. :: Teleporters CAN be used in the map. :: Man Cannons and Gravity lifts CAN be incorporated into the map. :: Every item in "Spawning" can be incorporated. :: Every item in "Objective" can be incorporated. :: Powerups CAN be used. :: Armor abilities CAN be used. :: Lights CAN be used. :: Special FX CAN be used. :: Rocks CANNOT be used. :: Toys CANNOT be used. :: Crates CAN be used. :: Turrets CAN be used. :: Explosives CAN be used. :: One way shields and shield doors CAN be used. :: Health Packs CAN be used. :: Cones CAN be used. :: Camping Stools CAN be used. :: Barricades CAN be used :: All weapons can be used. :: Minigames are allowed. :: Modded or glitched maps may not be used to grant extra coliseum walls Judging (4 Judges): :: Maps will be judged on: - Following of Rules - Enjoyment - Balance - Gameplay - Creativity :: Maps will be given a point value in each category (1-10). - Following of Rules (10 or DQ) X 1 - Enjoyment (1-10) X 2 - Balance (1-10) X 2 - Gameplay (1-10) X 2 - Creativity (1-10) X 3 :: Point values (after multiplier ^^) will be added together. :: Map with highest point value wins. :: In case of tie, prize is given to each contestant. Prizes: :: 1st prize is 1000msp :: 2rd prize is 1 month XBL :: 3nd prize is 500msp Judges: :: alreadyRogue :: Available Moth :: Confused Flamingo :: Minister Muffin Deadline: :: The deadline for map submissions will be October 8th 12:00 GMT :: All maps must be posted in the submission thread here :: Directions for posting maps are found in that thread. So again: what can YOU do with grey?
Should be like that UPS slogan: "What can grey do for you?" Anywho, I'd love to be a judge, but doubtless there are more qualified people out there.
Is your xbox working now? Because I have not seen you on for awhile. Anyways, if you need any help with this just send me a message. I think it sounds like a pretty interesting idea, and i liked what you did with your map!
haha thanks, but no, my box is still imploded, its gonna be back on wednesday. Are all of you guys competing ?
Are camping stools allowed? You could really simplify it to "coliseum walls are the only structural objects allowed." I don't see why toys are banned if scenery objects are not. I assume btb is allowed since coliseum walls are huge. Ps nice sig
Are barricades also allowed? I have sped through a map quick and have only one wall remaining So yes, I am competing
I'l be a judge if you would want me to. I've always wanted to judge something ever since I was a little boy!!!
This is a tough one. I can't compete due to lack of time I have to forge, but I will be interested to see what everyone does.
OK. I'm on it.. Just finished my first map ever in Forge after years of designing maps for Quake II and Quake III Arena. Really looking forward to everyone's submissions. UncleNuttzie
Another contest? Although this is a better idea than the others, I think we should slow it down with these contests.
So the only thing we are restricted from using are STRUCTURES except for the Coliseum walls. This is an interesting contest, as I am now working on a map that uses Coliseum walls extensively. I might enter this contest...
hmm..I've just got a map layout in mind...this should be fun.. Plus, i've got an idea for the next contest...who do I give my suggestion to again?
I'd love to help judge. I've got too many forge projects up in the air to build another one, but I love the concept. I don't have much of a reputation built up around here at Forgehub, so I guess you can check out my fileshare as a pseudo resume. If you want, even send me a map to critique.
Ill give it a go I guess. Your allowed to use the forge world scenery though arent you? as part of your map...
