    Oh, Rats Nest. Definitely.
I'd just forgotten what most of the maps were.

Just so you guys are aware, these new gametypes will have specific pre-set bloom options. We won't be able to go into options and switch it around ourselves. They said that isn't possible.

In matchmaking...of course you can't change anything in any matchmaking game. They've said plenty of times that there is a % of bloom that is configurable.

People like Sandtrap now? That map was so boring.

We can't configure the % though only 343i can. They can make 0% Slayer,100% Slayer,37% Slayer what ever they want to put in matchmaking then when have to download from recent games and then customize the gametype like any other gametype except there will be the hidden setting of 0% Bloom. (kinda like how Slayer pro has the hidden setting of forcing us to play as Spartans)

When was that said. During Halofest's community q&a, someone directly asked about the bloom and 343 responded by saying it was a completely configurable option. Maybe I misinterpretated that but it sounded pretty clear.

    Boring.
    Twenty handfuls of vehicles.
    On 10 second respawns.
    Is boring.

I think there's something wrong with you.

Sandtrap was terrible. Played it a number of times and never enjoyed it, except for that one time I went 40-0 in a banshee against a bunch of mindless meatbags.

Source. (Not just a source, a full rundown on the TU changes in depth, check it out)

It sounds like they're gonna try and be very accommodating about releasing gametypes with the settings people want, which is great. I'm a little disappointed that it couldn't be an end user option, but it's still pretty damn swish either way.

Also from that article, the most single reassuring and inspiring paragraph from any Halo developer that I've read in the last 6 or so years:

The two bolded portions in particular are the kind of frank assessment of the system, both in terms of intention and effect, that have been sorely lacking from developer (ie. Bungie) descriptions of the Halo mechanics for too long. Even aside from the wealth of great changes detailed here, the tone and language with which they (and the vanilla Reach mechanics) are addressed is incredibly reassuring. It's still too early to call obviously, but I already feel like I can identify with the way 343i are approaching the Halo franchise and gameplay.

3 vehicles on each side and a banshee. (And two Mongeese nobody ever used) And they weren't on a 10 second respawn, haha. Numerous times I had to just run around on foot while trying to shoot people 5 miles away which is impossible with Halo 3's shitty netcode.

    It was a boring map.

Anyone in this thread has to read that link.

One thing I keep failing to understand is will the Armorlock nerfs be in all playlists. The damage received to charge in Armor lock is customizable (just like bloom) which leads me to believe the nerf is playlist specific.
But seems like a Armor lock nerf would be something that's universal.

If anyone knows for sure it would ease my concerns.

I thought they'd address this in that article when I started reading, but they didn't, I definitely agree that it's very confusing.

I can only assume that the damage draining the charge will be a universal change, as having 2 different base versions of AL across multiple playlists seems stupid and needlessly confusing. This may be partly due to my dislike of AL, but I consider the charge depletion on AL to be a 'fix' more than a new option, thus only applying it in certain playlists would seem very odd indeed.

Past that, I'd assume you're right that they may toy with the damage taken option in different playlists, leaving it as is (or maybe tweaking slightly) in existing playlists and playing with more outlandish settings in others.

The most fun I had in Halo 3 was on that map. Especially when both teams parked their elephants in the middle and it became a mosh pit.

The best thing is in ctf, using the elephants to flag cap.

Some serious fun was had there.

Also, I'd put that link in the OP if it hasn't been done, everyone should read it.

I saw some flythrough of Timberland over at IGN and it is taking the cake for my favourite map in Anniversary at the moment.

EDIT: Why have we not not seen any footage of the Hang 'Em High remake:
[IMG] or any sort of news/info surrounding it? Theories and discussion gogogo!

Maybe they're saving it for last for a reason? That back wall looks like you can fly past it. Second Forgeworld anyone?

I was thinking more of a foundry esque map.

I hope not. I want Sandbox and it's simple, blend-able palette back.

"...but trust us: with zero bloom in place, the Needle Rifle becomes (and should be treated like) a power weapon."

This will be awesome. Everyone fighting over a Niffle...who knew?
