There may be an "honorable mentions" category depending on how things go. I don't think we will be doing a "tier" listing of all the maps, however. I think it would be better to simply acknowledge you didn't win/place than to know exactly how you stood compared to every other map. We don't want any hurt feelings if a member sees their map end up in the "Below Average" or "Bad" tier.
Wow i'd be great if i joined but i wouldn't have the time for it.. DANG SCHOOL AND SWIMMING TEAM! thats all..
Fuuuck yeah brah. We all have to get drunk before we go over them, no matter what time it is where we live. It will make it a lot more fun.
Im likely not going to submit my map until the very last minute, because that's how I roll. I suspect a lot of other contestants are going to do the same thing too. I was hoping to get one last critique from TG, but doesn't look like that's going to happen now, so I will have to try and get something done myself. I think I have some kind of z-fighting somewhere in there that I need to fix, but nothing major. Had a look in the submission thread, and man, Im in for some competition. My map isn't as pretty as some of the other submissions in there, but Im hoping the gameplay will be what makes my map stand out. Regardless of whether or not I place, I think this is the most polished and refined map I've produced so far. Fingers crossed.
There's a few pretty decent ones already. I'm looking forward to seeing the last minute submissions. I like "Cheapskate" for the custom title, personally. By the way, Props on not drinking. XXX
Hey judges, I was thinking.... How about we each pick a favorite map, and then leave it up to the community to vote for the winner? Just an idea...
I think it would be better if it was left up to the judges. If it's done the way you suggested, then there's a chance that people will just get their friends to vote for their map.
So have the judges waited to look at any of them until the submission deadline or have you already taken a peek at the early entries?
I've seen two of the entries, but just about all of em' are gonna be seen for the first time when we play them. We'll probably look at them all in Forge first to make sure they are under budget and take a look at spawns/weapons so that the map benefits from some prior knowledge of its layout. Drinking a glass or two of red wine every day has actually been proven to increase one's life span.
Well, I have a problem. I created a map, and I've been told it's pretty good, but at the same time, Microsoft just applied a filter on my xbl name (a proud nerd). So now I can't upload it to my file share until that get's fixed. Is their any way to still submit the map?
If you have a friend with XBL and Reach, load your map onto a USB drive, copy the file onto their Xbox, and load it into their File Share. It won't be from your File Share, but at least you'll get your map into the contest. Just be sure to mention that its from your friends File Share when you upload it.
