You can't merge objects like that into things, but you can merge objects into things like crates. Just set the crate to fixed and then merge your piece(s) into the crate. If you're trying to merge the crate into natural geometry, I think you're out of luck. Hope that helped.
You CAN in fact merge crates into the ground. Step 1: Place a crate above the section of ground where you want it Step 2: Set the crate to phased Step 3: Merge a block through the top of the crate Step 4: Grab the crate and put it on normal -the crate will now be pushed into the ground by the block, much like geomerging in Halo 3 Step 5: Put the crate back on phased
Hmm I didn't know that either. Don't know how useful that sort of thing would be off the top of my head, but I'm sure some people could be able to create some cool stuff with it. Thanks for sharing that information.
Yeah im surprised people havent figured that out yet. I did a lot of Halo 3 forging and that led me to discover this. Thought the forgehub vets would have as well
My real forging career (actually using merging lol) started off with being the lucky asshole who found Ghost merging on accident, and from then on nobody really used old-style merging a whole ton
I can force crates partway into the ground by setting them to Phased, lifting them several feet into the air, and using LB to SMASH! them into the ground, releasing them just as they hit. Double-tapping A several times afterword can decrease how far they've been embedded into the dirt. It's not precise, though.
Why didnt bungie make every forge item have the capability tobe phased in the air, in the ground, ect? Why I no haz troop hogs for forge?
