So Ive been thinking about all these small maps peiple are making, and about the ranks and skill and stuff, and I got to thinking. Wouldnt it be nice if there was a 1v1 MM playlist? Not only can you prove your skills against another, but now those small maps people make have a better chance of getting put on halo. Personally I believe this 1v1 playlist would show up in the other playlists. How? Those who play 1v1 a lot now know tricks and have practiced to beat another. An example is if both teams have 49 in team slayer and there are two people one on one. The person who plays 1v1 will have the advantage and their team will win. Please tell me what you think about this idea.

I love the idea of a 1V1 playlist, that way If my connection isnt being great, I have a better chance of playing a full game. And even when it's fixed, sometimes I just dont feel like teamwork or playing FFA - sometimes I want to have a 1v1, where you dont have to constantly watch for outsiders killing both of you etc...

There used to be one at the beginning of Halo 3. They probably got rid of it for reasons similar to why Cod 4's 1v1 playlist sucked so bad. Everyone just went in there to boost.

People are making 1v1 maps because they are easy to make, test, and fill up with cool aesthetics that get people to comment on the map. A Playlist is not necessary just because there are a ton of maps that would fit in it. If you don't feel like playing on a team I believe there is a FFA playlist that involves you playing alone but isn't so boring. If you just want to boost just get enough friends together.

    1v1 bad idea

Dude, 1v1 is like eating lunch. 4v4 is like eating free lunch. 8v8 is like eating lunch with master chief

In Reach this is like eating lunch with MC, but the food is so bad that you get all kinds of diseases and die while getting pounded in the ass by a thousand Banshee bombs and Scorpion tank shells.

    That's Reach BTB.

I spent over a month drawing and redrawing my current 1v1 Wip and finally found 1 area that I liked before I started forging it. I have entirely built and rebuilt the map 7 different times.

This may be true, but I enjoy 1v1s much, much more than 4v4s or FFas. I'll go more into that in a second.

    I don't forge 1v1s any different than I forge 2v2/4v4s, really.

4v4s and FFAs rely so much less on so many different things. For one, weapon timing is much more vital in 1v1s because every bullet, every second of a powerup will be used against you, and only you.

Second, chasing people still holds the same risk whereas you can easily out-maneuver your opponent to cut them off without worrying about getting triple teamed. It's more about out thinking your opponent, really.

Overall, 1v1s are much more fun in general for me.

I think they can make the max party size 1.

Only reason I'd be against this is basically what Ace said.

Yeah, this. 1v1s are awesome for me just because of some of the outrageous escapes you can pull and the satisfying feeling when you outmaneuver your opponent and he has to accept his DMR related fate.

I love 4v4 don't get me wrong, but it can be really annoying when you pull off a sweet escape jump and then discover that while you were fighting his team mates spawned around the corner and they mercilessly assault rifle you into the dust.

Erupt, I tried to type easier and my iPhone put in easy. Try to read between the mistakes. I have not had a computer for the past three weeks and still do not.

Even I people don't have a buddy. It's easy to get matched against a lousy enemy and get perversions and whatnot. And why does it really matter when you need only find one other person to play against on a map of your choosing. If you're good enough just challenge people to a 1v1 until someone accepts.

My overall point was that you're accusations at 1v1 maps and so forth were incorrect. I mostly agree with you on the playlist things.

I may. But not many different people have posted in this thread, so it may not be popular

1v1 playlists are to easy to boost, Organizing or convincing 2 people to boost together is easy but getting 4+ people to boost is a lot harder.

I don't have any experience in serious 1v1's but whenever I've played a casual 1v1 It turns into a camping fest and there is always a wall or path you can continue to run away around until the time runs out which is really annoying.

I could see people finding ways to boost. If there is a way around this, I'm on board. Also, SinlessLegend has started a group to test. 1vs1

What'd be quite good is 1v1's but they'd need the old (and frankly better) Halo 3 ranking system to be viable... With highest skill meaning good players are against good players, "worse" players against each other and so forth.

But thats not influenced by the idea that I think the old rankings should've been kept regardless...

Yep. One versus One is the ultimate test of skill. Especially in a game that has a much heavier emphasis on team play and contains more random variables than a Math Textbook.

The only time I would ever consider this being a possibility is to keep all the children who actually think 1v1's are the purest demonstration of ones manliness all in one place so they can rank up their internet cocks and berate each others mothers, but I think the MLG and Arena playlists have that taken care of already, for the most part.

Besides, people would just boost, even though going into Rumble Pit with a party of 8 is much more efficient. Kind of how people would boost in MW2 by going into FFA even though you could take a team of six or something like that into Barebones and nobody would be able to join in your lobby so you were free to boost in peace.

Oh, and I think One-on-One games just aren't fun. I only ever made one for a contest for some MSP and a 3 Month, which I won because of how ridiculously easy they are to make.

The only reason I would want a 1v1 playlist is because I really enjoy the gameplay of it. It's practially the only reason I'm still interested in Reach. Forging them and playing. It's roughly like MLG if you stick with the same settings, (no radar, dmr start, sprint, etc.) and that's what I like. Really competitive game play. You're also able to see other maps in matchmaking and see what other people come up with. There's a good amount of maps that would work for the playlist becasue of how great gameplay and flow is. Yes, people could boost, but if it's not setup like Arena, then who really cares? They get their own exp. If you go alone to actually play someone you don't know, they will be doing the same.

Exactly. I say just give us a 1v1 playlist with a 1 player limit. Boosters gonna boost, so theres nothing you can do. If someone's going to boost, they're going to do it anyway, so why let the stupid actions of a few ruin the fun for many?

    ^ I likey.

Even though I don't really like 1v1s at all, I'm sure a large number of the community would appreciate this playlist.

But just don't make it like the Halo 3 1v1 Playlist gametype and maps. ****ing retarded.

I missed out on that. Why, may I ask, was it so bad?
