Hey guys, it's Zop again, and I have a preview of a complicated Infection map I've been making for you today. It's linear progression style map, set in a massive urban area, overrun by zombies. I'll post the full backstory / timeline on the map post, but so far it's 21 pages in Microsoft word. (Yes, I got carried away.) Anyways, it's complex due to the fact that I used spawn times as such to create "Holdout Zones" on several parts of the map, in which you cannot progress until a set amount of time has passed, and I'm making a closing door activated by a switch that will create a "Safe Zone" at the end of the map, and will continue in the next map. (This will be a series) Zombies get an intricate grid of teleporters to locations in various buildings to get the drop on the humans in the streets below. Their spawn is located in a building which will remain unidentified for now, as I want it to be a surprise. This map is set shortly after US Army forces in the area were overrun, and a group of ragged survivors from another area reached downtown via subway, shortly before it collapsed. Anyways, on to some pictures. First Holdout Zone behind the Metro Station Checkpoint. This kind of teleporter setup will be used in many places around the map. It lets the Zombies get a drop on the humans, and adds a layer of places you can get killed from. Overrun US Army Resistance on 4th Street. (Despite the small appearance, it's actually massive, four Colosseum walls long) Holdout Zone outside the Military Archives. Interior of the Military Archives (Transition between second and third Holdout Zones). A view of about half the city. Some damaged building... My barely comprehensible blueprint. (No this is not modded, it uses all 50 Wall Colosseums), and no, you cannot use the vehicles. Anyways, feedback / suggestions appreciated.
I love the concept of a linear Infection map. Whilst I'm not entirely sure how you're going to manage the zombies, I suppose I'll just be surprised. Anyways. Initial thoughts. Like the buildings and rubble they look good. Don't like the sheer amount of vehicles and scenery in the streets though. It seems like you would just be walking through the same thing over and over with different background structures. I'm interested to see how it plays.
It looks good. Unlike most infection maps, which tend to be pretty small, this one looks wide open which should add some interesting gameplay.
this looks really promising zop.. the hard part is these types of maps have alot to compete with like Left 4 Dead and the very recent Incision campaign. Youll have to try and make your map stand out form theirs
When I saw Incision come up I was punished because it was so similar to what I had been working on for about a month. Needless to say though, I've got a few tricks up my sleeve.
