This map is very straight forward. It uses the insanity game-type and is set up for the red and blue teams. When you spawn you are standing on a platform facing a structure with golf balls rolling across. You also spawn with a lazer. So putting two and two together you come to the conclusion to shoot the balls. The balls have four levels of difficulty and rewards more points for the harder shots. The diagonal golf balls when shot fly back awarding one point. The bottom horizontal bar awards two because the balls go a little faster. The middle horizontal bar awards three points because of obstructions. Finally the top horizontal bar awards four points because of the high speed and the ball being airborne for a bit. (all have been scored even the four goal so its not impossible keep trying) There are two rounds lasting three minutes at which half time you switch sides. Now there is no difference in the layout in the sides they are exactly the same (i did this painstakingly with coordinates and reference points) the only difference is the back drop but still people claim a difference so the switch. After two minutes of gameplay a sniper spawns in the middle front of each side. Originally i had the sniper as a secondary weapon but found out its over powered for this map because you don't haft to charge it and you have multiple shots. So I gave each team one after two minutes for a sort of one minute catch up spree. This map can hold any number of people as long as its even teams because i only have ten spawns on each side. Why the extra two, i just kind of did it placing spawn points from left to right and ten fit great. All and all this map is fun. Most people like it. I don't see why they wouldn't its clear and simple and if your lucky it might even improve your lazer skills. So please download the map and game-type up at the top and comment on this thread. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- First off, I would just like to say thank you to the THFE team for taking the time to review this map. IT looks pretty cool, nothing spectacular, but the forge work is good, and its something simple that fits and party size. Ill give it a try
Yea well after i got done with all the mechanics there really wasn't much i could do for ascetics, those diagonal rails used all my decorative pieces and i didn't have much after that to spruce up the joint. But in my opinion in a mini game the functionality comes first, ascetics come second.
This played a lot better than I thought. Normally these kind of games it would lag when played with 16 players. People would often complain how shots wouldn't move the golf balls. But this, each shot counted, and gave each player a wide variety of targets. I really like that the harder the shot was, the more points it would get. After each game, it always ended with bragging rights for the winning team. Even some people wanted to play it again. Another awesome mini game added to my playlist, great job!
Not that you have to, but if you put one golf ball machine in the middle it would be more of a competetion. But this is just my opinion.
YES! Excellent idea. Please do that. I'm using this map for a gameshow (credit is given to map makers) and that would be more competitive IMO. Having the symmetry be point symmetry i don't think would hurt anyone so you can still use diagonals. Just do the side switching like regular. (Also turn off damage in that one so u cant kill each other.)
Well Darth Human is going to do a review on his youtube channel TheHaloForgeEpidemic and when they finish it i will post it on this page.
Hey just thought I'd let you know that we finally featured this on our YouTube channel. Hope you enjoy! "Shooting Gallery" [HD] - Halo Reach Forge Maps (THFE) - (Ep.25) - YouTube
I saw your video for this map. I really like this, and think it's a wonderful concept. The construction and mechanics run smoothly, and it's a really fun time to play on. I really love this intuitive minigame and had a bunch of fun playing on it myself and with friends. I love pretty much everything you guys put out there, and I'd love to see some more cool stuff in the future!
