"This Halo 3 favorite is back from the dead, ready for all kinds of one-sided gametypes." The above quote would imply that this map is something you should remember, which may or may not be true. This map was in Halo 3, although it never reached a considerable level of popularity. Past records aside, this map, Imbalanced Fort, is one with an all-to-common theme: defend a position against unlimited enemies. It blends a classic element of fortress defense with the vehicle-oriented combat of Halo B.T.B. However, this map allows for equal footing of individuals with vehicles and those without. And that's on both offense and defense. Despite the name (which is the subject of a Forge joke from years ago), this map has proven to be at least somewhat balanced. The fort itself, while easily defensible, lacks many power weapons and vehicles. This gives defenders a few tactical choices. Do they want to hold down the objective with what they have, go out in a vehicle and establish a defensive line, or scavenge in the vicinity of the base for power weapons? Choices like these present themselves to the attackers as well. Several locations of the map benefit foot soldiers and allow for easy flanking. Now for the screenshots: This is the attackers' base and spawn point. The Rocket Hog and Machinegun Hog are available from the start, while a Revenant and a Wraith spawn later in the game. On the landing pad is a Grenade Launcher, and leaning on the two columns are DMRs. There is also a Needle Rifle and Assault Rifle in this area (though not in the image). Diverging to the right from the attackers' base is the Glass Path. At the entrance to the Glass Path is a Plasma Pistol and one Plasma Grenade. At the corner is a box containing a delayed-spawn Rocket Launcher. Also there is a teleporter that carries players to the Fuel Station. Farther down the path is a man cannon that launches players into the center of the map. This is a shot of the Highway. It's a simple, straight road to the main objective: the Fort. To the right is the Fuel Station, and visible on the left is the Radar Station. Under the Highway, there is a lot of cover and some cleverly hidden weapons. Leaning on these support beams are DMRs, a Needle Rifle, and a Grenade Launcher. They are placed so that both teams have ample time to obtain them. This is the Fuel Station. Though closer to the defender's base, the attackers typically arrive here due to the teleporter on the Glass Path. Sitting on a bench is a Spiker and Plasma Grenades, and parked here are a Ghost and Mongoose. Better grab them quick though, those propane tanks will destroy those vehicles if they remain stationary. This is the Radar Station. Here lies a neutral Sniper Rifle. There is also a nice rock ramp for foot soldiers to transition onto the open field, where they can quickly retreat under the Highway if things get sour. The Eastern Flank is the more open side of the Fort's vicinity. Here are two of the defenders' vehicles. There is also a Rocket Launcher on a path that leads to a rock formation that makes for great ambushes against enemy vehicles. The turret on the ridge can oversee most of the map but is vulnerable to fire from all sides. This area is the more infantry-friendly section of the defenders' base. This Western Flank has a health kit, a Needle Rifle, and a Plasma Repeater. From here, attackers can easily penetrate the base. Here is the attacker's target. The Fort. There is a turret that oversees the courtyard. The battlements are fully accessible and has on it a Plasma Launcher with a very long spawn time. Inside the first floor of the base is a Shotgun with limited ammo and a DMR. That concludes the tour of Imbalanced Fort. I hope that any of you who choose to download it have as much fun playing it as I did! It's truly a treat for those of you who like one-sided objective games. This is a great map! It´s the best if you have a bunch of friends to play with, definitely worth a download
It probably would, but I had no money and I ran out of resources in most categories, so further editing the map to compensate for Invasion is impossible.
