So to kick off discussion of what Bungie's next game will be, I made this thread. I also wanted to post this. O Brave New World‏ - YouTube There are some interesting screens at the end of the video that might be from Bungie's next game. They don't really reveal anything, though.
Aerospace is not a game. It's a program bungie is overseeing to support indie developers with mobile apps.
I'm pretty sure this thread is more on the lines for those people who actually FOLLOW Bungie, or are fans of them as a company, as well as to actually read a thread and understand what the hell is going on instead of randomly guessing and then looking like an idiot. AAAAANYWAY, That Vidoc was incredible. Really opened my eyes to the way Bungie works. As for the new game, I'm excited. The enthusiasm they've shown when they talk about it makes me quite confident that it's going to be amazing. Then again, there hasn't been a game series made by Bungie that hasn't been revolutionary in some way.
I've been waiting all morning for this Vidoc! Don't have time to watch it yet though, maybe sometime today. Glad you posted this.
I get the sense that James is being mocked....na. Anyway it was good video and I hope their next game isn't a shooter. Time to revolutionize some other game genre.
Most people are gonna hate for me this but near the end of the ViDoc (where one guy says "Tiger"), it looked like a huge expansive environment with day/night cycles which makes me think they're building an MMO or RTS. My second guess would be an open-world game similar to Oblivion. I think Bungie values multiplayer way too much though.
Out of all those, I'd guess it's an MMO. The large player worlds and the fact they're so multiplayer based makes me think so. But a console MMO...It really depends on 2 things. How much will it be to play (It won't be free, they never are) and how immersive it is. Then again, it may not be an mmo at all.
The Guild Wars series is massive and is free. They make their money off of DLC more than anything. However, since they're partners with Activision, I doubt free to play is going to happen. Unrelated: I hope Bungie explores voxels in the future.
My guess is an open world third person rpg. But that's just because that's what they wanted to do before Halo: CE.
As would I, but Bungie don't seem like the team to stick to one genre. From what I can tell (Which is from nothing, so this is coming from nowhere), it might end up first person, but probably not a linear shooter like Halo.
Maybe I've been playing too many First Person Shooters but to me, every FPS is the same. Every game is blending in with each other. It's not a bad thing. The quality isn't dwindling. To me, there's nothing new, they're just tacking on features that were successful in other games. I'm glad they're taking a breather and doing something "completely different." Doing something different doesn't even have to be another genre though. Either way, different is good for me. I haven't seen or played different in a while.
