Hello people. I noticed recently that every time I play reach I start to get bored right away. So I was hoping somebody on fh would give me an idea for a battle map that I could make. I keep on trying to make stuff but it never turns out the way I want it to so can someone please give me an idea of a battle map that I could make.

no :( All my ideas, I need them on my own.
But why not just try something in Forge, putting some objects here and others there...And you'll see that something will pop-up in your head.

I would suggest that instead of just sitting down in forge looking for ideas, that you start on a different path. I have 3 basic suggestions of places to start.

    1. Have you seen any map, gameplay, architecture, etc... recently that interested you, or you thought "hey that looks cool, I could use that, or make it better"? That can be a good place to start, using that and building the map around it.

    2. If you don't have anything there, then I suggest you start with basic shapes, square, rectangle, triangle, octagon, pentagon. Most maps boil down to basic shapes that are slightly more complicated, so just begin with a basic shape and begin to change it to suit the gameplay that you want from the map. Every map I've worked on in forge began as a basic shape, and developed from there.

    3. Before even going into forge, sit down with some paper and get a sketch of what you want to do, it can be very basic (trust me I can't draw worth anything). This way you'll have a basic floor plan of what you want to accomplish so that you can be best productive in forge, and do more than just twiddle your thumbs. You'll make changes as you go along but it is a good starting place.

I hope that helps, I know I was really short with all those points, but it's late and time to sleep, good luck to ya.

Thanks for the suggestions. I already tried the first one but that did not work for me so I will try the other two. Thanks.

These methods are both standard issue planning for me now, Another basic shape that works in addition to those you mentioned, are letters and numbers. Simple ones like 8, 0, E, A, S, H, C, and X are all good ideas to begin with. I actually just recently made 2 maps just by going into forge and making random stuff in places I wanted to. It worked out alright but im nervous about how it wasnt planned, planning phases are always good, better maps come of it. I'll probobly end up remaking my recent ones that didnt go through this phase as they didnt get the crucial analysis needed.

As for the OT, just use what Duck said, and maybe try out some letters and numbers as well. Just going to randomly forge usually doesnt turn out well. Always plan ahead!
